Christian Magic?

Hm...I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree.

Part of my view on this tends to include a certain amount of agnosticism towards the existence of spiritual beings outside the human psyche; .

that always pains me...especially if one is a spiritual walker...

which I assume by your posts you are...

but each to their own

Ok... So from now on, no one is to use sarcasm or harmless ribbing unless it's in the joke forums. Gotcha.

Do you also have any prophets you don't want me mentioning or depicting? Go ahead and list all of the rules so I know for the future...

Whoa now... Let's all just take a deep breath and grab a juice box. I never said I know you... But judging by your extremely sensitive replies to my posts, I figured you could stand to lighten up and not take stuff so seriously.

dude...

do you actually know anythign about magic? have anythign to contribute?
I understand some posters just post drivel..and pretty much never address the topic, but they are "witty" so people "like them" :sarcastic (go fig)....not meanign you, I havent seen many of your posts.....

but do you have anything to actually contribute?

Magic is something to take seriously circle. Maybe we wouldn't want to see you mock something from the gods, and you might actually end up insulting the gods, and then well... who can say what will happen?

I am not threatening anybody Mr. Cheese, if people mock the gods, they are well capable of retributing themselves, it will not be me doing it.

Let's put it to the test. Let me know which gods I shouldn't be mocking. I'll mock them mercilessly, and then we'll see what sort of retribution I'll suffer. Go ahead and pick the most vengeful gods you can think of.

have to agree here

the old pay them respect or suffer the consequences is garbage frankly....
its akin to living in fear...just in case you transgress the laws of a giant guppie, he may smite you.....

....

The person that REALLY should be concerned about insulting the Gods is one who has made a commitment and promise to them....ie Yosef....as I would assume certain pacts, promises etc have been made, literally or not.

but anyway....

I think I've lost all interest in serious commentary on this thread now....

I'm thinking maybe hubu hubu, chief god of the Neritti tribe of the eastern rim of Outer Mongolia?

Hm...I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree.

Part of my view on this tends to include a certain amount of agnosticism towards the existence of spiritual beings outside the human psyche; without a scientific agreement on the existence and the effects of spiritual entities on us, defining magic in this way makes it even more of a subjective definition.

I can only simply reiterate my position: magic is the interaction of the individual's conscious existence within an integrated Universe. Mysticism is the understanding of that (after all, how can mysticism be anymore than understanding?).

So a Christian partaking in the Christian rituals is performing magic just as they are when they make coffee in the morning. There may seem to be a difference in purpose and ritualism, but I think that breaks down when we examine the mysticism behind both actions.

We think/see/percieve so similarly GC.

Mysticism = interactive perception/translation/understanding of/with/in... Self/Universe/Reality/Surroundings.
Magic = intentional action/movement/creation/formation of/with/in..Self/Universe/Reality/Surroundings,
as related to the above (mysticism).

Which then cycles perception to action to perception to action.

The more purposefully one acts,
the more meaningful the change.
the more symbolically one sees,
the more beautiful the magic.

As I have said before....

Breathe in Mysticism...
Breathe out Magic...
Breathe in Mysticism...
Breathe out Magic....

the Universe is TransFormational.
We are TransFormational.
We percieve meaning...
and we MOVE and give form to the Universe
in the meanings we choose to embrace and embody.

I hardly see the need for all the fuss.

You breathe.
you breathe in
you breathe out
but it's all breathing.

Mysticism
and
Magic
are
Life lived alive.

I have no books to cite.
I know this,
because it is how I live.

well we can all make it up as we go along...

but anyway

this thread is dead

it has devolved into the usual piffle that threads do when anythign slightly interesting gets discussed...but there...away with me and my silly bad temper...le sigh

Poppets, cakes of light and the industrial use of semen and how it will revolutionise the human race (Crowley, diary entry 8 August 1923)...next on Oprah

If you want to stranger. All I was saying is that we who believe in gods do take it seriously you know? Gods are powerful beings, and they might get insulted the same way we'd get insulted at something. I can't be held responsible of they react in a bad way.- Sekhmet, Ma'at, Set, Wesir/Osiris, Heru-sa-Aset/Horus the Younger, Amun Ra

well I enjoyed some of the posts in this thread.

no offense meant but...

when magic is described as the way of the universe
and magic and mysticism are described as breathign in and breathign out...

well for me, and me alone.....

its a bit like a biologist explaining advanced geommetry

but I guess tis the nature of this place....

I think the thread itself was explained...
magic users see the eucharist as magic
others dont....

Personally I can see both.....

well that's the way some of us like it...
though not everyone is so inclined.

For some of us, that is the point.
