Citing staffing issues and political climate, North Idaho hospital will no longer deliver babies.

I wasn't a little kid when it happened, but it was still shocking that the country was at war, and the images on TV were of violence no one really should be exposed to.
And these decades later it's just a fact of life that America in militarily involved somewhere and bombing someone. Kind of like how at some point during the 90's I ceased by shocked by school shootings, probably after Jonesboro Middle School (this was before Columbine) given how the kids pulled the fire alarm and then hid in some trees in the distance to ambush their school and fire upon on their teachers and peers as they rushed out of the building.
Kinda scary to notice how heavily what is currently considered conservatism relies on direct denial of well demonstrated facts, don't you think?

Still better than yours
Never claimed ours is best.

Best healthcare system in the world with actual lower outcomes overall?
Seriously?
What’s the old joke?
If Breaking Bad happened in any other civilised country, it would be a slice of life drama about a man getting cancer treatment?
It’s no good having the best healthcare system in the world if no one can actually afford to use it
Like come on
Don't know why you seem to be arguing with me.

Even treatment for other maladies can involve drugs
associated with abortion. One can't predict whether
prosecution or civil suits will dog one, trying to ruin
one's life. We're seeing the balkanization of states
in our republic.
Always have to be careful what drugs you ban. Thalidomide, which caused so many horrible deformities in babies when taken for morning-sickness, turns out to be very useful against leprosy and multiple myeloma.

We've seen government provided health care
having its own set of problems too. You're a
socialist, wanting government to control all.
I'd rather not put all the eggs in one basket.
Privates can manage all the sectors in the world. Finance, commerce, industry...
but healthcare is something serious and only the State should manage it.

With many rural hospitals closing their doors, don't think this type of thing is a one-off.

This is true. I've been reading quite a few articles in recent years about shortages in the healthcare field. Doctors and nurses are in short supply. That's even without taking into account these kinds of legislative acts (such as in Idaho) which ostensibly discourage physicians from even practicing in a state with a hostile political climate. It's ironic that in their mad rush to ban abortion, their actions have the effect of discouraging births.

Unintended consequences. We should really be more versed in human nature.

The irony is that, even in the U.S., healthcare is largely managed and governed by the state. Basically, it's structured in such a way as to gain maximum profit for the healthcare industry (to include Big Pharma), much of which subsidized by taxpayers, while their level of service and quality is no better than in other countries where healthcare costs are considerably lower.

It's price gouging, plain and simple, yet the government enables this practice by putting controls and restrictions which reduce people's options that would normally exist in a truly laissez faire economy. If Americans really want a capitalist healthcare system, then I would just wish the powers that be would make up their minds.

All right.
It's all so confusing for me.
One question: if someone has an accident because of a cat crossing the street and needs an ambulance, why is the victim supposed to pay for that ambulance?

It's just capitalism. That's what Americans want, and that's what Americans get.

Because the cat has no money. :pAnything related to one's injury, unless caused on the job, is one's responsibility. And they are not cheap.

Weirdly, the obstetrician-gynecologist says something entirely different, but carry on.
Carry on indeed. According to the Census bureau 5.5% of Sandpoint's residents are under 5 years old while over 17 percent are over 65. It's median age is 40, older than normal pregnancy age. Unless the Sandpoint gynecologists are seeing rampant pregnancies among those over 40 the need for obstetrics is shrinking. Like many small towns in America, it is greying and the number of births is steadily decreasing. This leads to less need for birth centers and some, like in Sandpoint, closing. It is demographics, not abortion restrictions that is the root cause.

To make the rich richer and the poor poorer, at least in America for the past 40+ years
Also in Europe, after the creation of the ECB which is 100% private.
Do you know why the EU lets the State mint the euro coins? Because it's not profitable to produce them.
Do you know why the EU forbids the State to print euro bills? Because it's a right given to the private ECB so the billionaire bankers can gain more billions from Seigniorage.
