Curious? J.W.'s not permitted to post here?

If anyone wants to address an issue out of genuine curiosity, I will be happy to address them individually but not interested in wasting time entertaining fault-finding opposers just for the sake of it.

How about my question about JWs not being allowed to study psychology, philosophy and sociology? Please tell me that it isn't true. Any religious leaders putting a leash on what kind of information their congregation has access to throws up a big red flag. Suppression of knowledge should not be necessary to retain faith.

Alrighty. I kind of wish that the others had chosen to stay.

Okay then, what about not being allowed to study psychology, sociology or philosophy? Is that accurate or is there something more to it?

I see no problem with psychology or sociology.....in fact we can pretty much study whatever we like as long as it does not impact on our spirituality or time unnecessarily.

Philosophy is something we find no use for. It is an endless circular argument for things that never quite come to any definite conclusions. It is a waste of time for anyone who has better things to do than to muse endlessly about things of no real consequence. It was even warned about in the scriptures.

Colossians 2:8:
" Look out that no one takes you captive by means of the philosophy and empty deception according to human tradition, according to the elementary things of the world and not according to Christ"

Like a lot of things in this world, it is spiritually "empty". We like to study the Bible mostly because this is the knowledge that leads to a future. (John 17:3)

Philosophy

Definition: The word philosophy is derived from Greek roots that mean “love of wisdom.” As used here, philosophy is not built on acceptance of belief in God, but it tries to give people a unified view of the universe and endeavors to make them critical thinkers. It employs chiefly speculative means rather than observation in a search for truth.

I have replied but I am sorry I missed your post in all the other rabble.

We have no "big brother" controlling our every move.....we have the Bible...we have a conscience...and we have shepherds who are there to care for us.

Please ask whatever you feel is reasonable and I will try to give you a reasonable answer.

It is the study of human wisdom.....we all know how wise humans are.....it engenders independent thinking that is often 'critical' in the wrong way, leading to all manner of attitudes that really benefit no one in the long run.

Because of JWs on line someone might become interested in the research of them, but knowing that many in the congregations have resorted to child abuse, might be stumped reading this.

18 Instead of murmuring about things in the congregation, we do well to maintain a positive attitude and follow a routine that keeps us busy, joyful, reverent, balanced, and healthy in faith. (1 Corinthians 15:58; Titus 2:1-5) Jehovah is in control of everything within his organization, and Jesus is aware of developments in each congregation, just as he was in the first century. (Revelation 1:10, 11) Patiently wait on God and Christ, the Head of the congregation. Responsible shepherds may be used to correct matters that may need to be readjusted.—Psalm 43:5; Colossians 1:18; Titus 1:5.

How is that possible that Jehovah is "in control" but innocent children have been used to satisfy certain evil men's desires?

Yes, The people of Earth are confused and confusing.
Define "oh brother"
Here:
"Best Answer: It is an expression that may mean different things in different contexts. The most common that I know is an expression that means the person speaking is becoming exasperated (very frustrated).
As in "Oh brother, here we go again (with disgusted eye roll)."

Whiz.

This thread sure got a lot of attention for and from Deeje.
Deeje is my dear friend.
Me loves her so very much.:couplekiss:
Deeje also makes tons of good sense with her responses.
I also tend to be partial to J.W. doctrine.
J.W.'s don't have the fluff and trimmings of other Christian denominations.
The Kingdom Hall is austere at best, devoid of anything remotely fancy.
Also devoid of ANY gov'ment flag that dose not belong in ANY church building.
J.S.'s donot take part in politics so can't be blamed for the Clinton's or Bush's of the world.
J.W.'s pay work and pay taxes just as any decent citizen.
J.W.'s are not the "fringe" religion many believe they are.
They don't celebrate X-mas, Easter, and such for sound Biblical reasons.
Sorry for the thread drift.
I'm having a really BAD p.t.s.d. day.:confused::confused:
Perhaps I'll start a thread about the horrible violence I've endured.
Perhaps it might help to "talk" about it.:p

So, the reason that JW's cannot post here is because there is a mandate in their religion against posting the ''good news'' on the internet, in order to reach someone from another country, etc? I remember when JW's left here, and thought it was a mandate that they weren't permitted to use the internet, anymore...in general.:question:

They CAN post here. @Deeje is a JW. The others (one, I forget her name- was much more mature and resolved in the faith of JWs than most) left because of warning words of MEN. I am sure it was not Jehovah WHO cares about words on the internet that go by so very, very fast that nobody can keep up with them. It is the GB who choose to keep their people away from knowledge. I am sure.

Just so you know, I liked it, not because I understand it, but because you are a wonderful poet or something.

I have wondered the exact same thing.

http://search.aol.com/aol/search?enabled_terms=&s_it=client97_searchbox-ac&q=jehovah's+witnesses+online+bible

https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/

http://www.alwaysbeready.com/jehovahs-witnesses

Just a few of the many online sites they have.
Also they have television and radio programs.
I dunno.
One would think "spreading the good news" via social and other media would be perfectly fine as would site like
this one.
As I remember hearing from The Boss Men (governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses) there is only one appropriate web site for them. So, "always be ready" is not an official place imo. But, thanks be to God, I don't know.

I think her name was JayDee? I can't remember, but I liked her. I don't believe in what JW's believe, but I admired her steadfast faith in her beliefs.
