Actually there is a quite huge issue with this. Are you saying that this was why marriage came to be? That this was its original purpose? Because they didn´t even know what a gene was back then.

Today we know what takes place in detail; back then they knew of the consequences of sex. And yes marriage laws came into been because the woman and the child needed protection for an extended period, also the family was and is the hub of the nations.

I have news for you, marriage is not required to have a family.

I realize that you likely cannot come to accept the fact, but there are lots of families in the world, where marriage was not a part of the equation.

there were societies that used to do that (celtic). you would get married for 1 year, if you loved him you remarried and if you didnt you sent him packing.

Wow, believe it or not, I'm actually thinking of using something I haven't taken full advantage of before. Ignore. I think for someone to relegate marriage to mere reproduction and obviously feels that a woman is somehow less or weaker than a man and that needs "protection" by being "married" (code for he owns her and her job is to spit out babies for him--how crude and neanderthalish) really offends the very core of me as a woman.

I know. This is why I've never taken real advantage of it before. I've tried, but can't seem to still my curiousity over what the person is moronically saying now. I see that they have made a post and I just know it is going to be something stupid and offensive, and I can't help myself but to look to see just how far gone they really are. I think it would be that way with free spirit.

Actually, come to think of it, I think I may actually have someone on ignore, but they rarely ever showed up after our big blow up so maybe I just never noticed their posts afterwards. Don't know. I think I'll check.


edit: I guess I have 2 people on ignore right now. I just never noticed because one is banned and one seems to stick to just biblical and scriptural debate sections now. 2 areas I don't even bother with. maybe I'll get lucky and free spirit will wander off that way.
