Democrat bill passed that bans paramilitary training. You know, Nazis and stuff.

So just chanting "Death to America" and "Death to Israel" without paramilitary training is terrorism, but "Keep New England White" and "There will be Blood" with paramilitary training isn't?

I'd say "Death to America" is more specific as to what they intend for this country.
Keeping a part of the country a certain color is hardly calling for violence.
And "There will be blood" could even refer to what the Red Cross does.

Uh...okay, I think we'll have to agree to disagree. Thanks for the discussion!

Don't you think a group calling for Jihad and America's death is a threat? People with the same twisted ideology are the ones who conducted 9/11. So I'd say they have a proven track record.

I mean, yeah. Contrary to popular belief, I am not anti-free speech. But there's nothing to indicate the people in your article had the ability or means to back up the threat. There's nothing to indicate they were training in tactics designed to hurt people.

Also, I am not even anti-militia (though I am also not pro-militia). If people want to train as if they were in the military, all the more power to them. I am even skeptical of the Maine legislation as it was written, since I think shooting ranges and defensive gun training is perfectly legitimate.

But combine specific threats against community members with training and means to carry out that threat, and I think there's a justification for the community to work to secure the rights of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" for those under threat.

Do you not see what the Maine white supremacists are doing as threatening? People with that twisted ideology have also carried out some horrific violence.

Also, please note that the post I directed you to reread also brought up a scenario that included Islamic terrorism as a potential threat. That was alongside ecoterrorism (which I may be a bit more sympathetic to). I find it...concerning that some people find Jihadist chanting as more of a threat than Nazi chanting from a group training in paramilitary tactics.

A Muslim group calling for violence doesn't have to have the "means" to do it themselves. If they call for it, there will always be someone somewhere who has the ability. An airplane ticket and a box cutter might be all the means they would need.

It's interesting that you are willing to strip a group of 1st Amendment rights when it is a Muslim group, but when talking about Nazis, it's:

Sorry, but chanting slogans and "training in military skills" is not terrorism. I've heard of people wanting to label free speech as terrorism, and it appears that you're one of those people. I believe more in the First Amendment.

And:

Quit fear-mongering. Just because you don't agree with someone's views doesn't mean anything until you use your disagreement to stoke fear of the people you disagree with. That only leads to hate.

And:
Just trying to show you your double standard. If a far right wing group chants some mild slogan that doesn't have any real meaning, you want laws passed. If Muslim groups specifically call for the death of the country, we get silence.
But don't worry. ISIS is recruiting, and they are getting responses: Idaho teen arrested for allegedly plotting to attack church in name of ISIS
