Legislating love is draconian and sick. People who oppose due to their religious beliefs are sick for imposing them on others. Biggoted people who hate homosexuals for being homosexuals are sick and should have thei organs harvested for crimes against humanity :)

I'm totally in favour of having formal legal recognition of homosexual relationships with all the general related benefits and costs. I'm not convinced it needs to be exactly the same thing as marriage nor that it necessarily needs to be formally called the same thing. It wouldn't bother me personally either way but there is such a vocal minority who would oppose anything including this that I don't think it's worth the fight. You don't turn down a free car because it's missing a wing mirror.

I'm not a fan of marriage in general, but I think any two (or more) people of consenting age should have the right to be married. I would also say though that I don't believe any religious institution should be legally required to marry people. If a Temple of any kind wants to be homophobic then in my mind that's their business so long as they keep it among themselves and don't hassle people, incite violence etc.

I wouldn't expect a Church that considered homosexuality a sin to marry two gay people any more than I would expect them to provide a Wiccan ceremony. Hope that makes sense.

i think this post says it all. do you have any other reason England, or just that. (not being rude, i'm just asking if there is any other reason, i keep hearing this one all the time)

Homosexuality has been around since we climbed out of the Trees, its not a choice, people don't just decide to be Gay for the heck of it,why people fear it i have no idea,BTW i have no choice in being straight so its just part of nature.

i think you should 'cause everyone has a right to be happy. religion has stopped this for too long and tbh i think it is right for people to marry who they love even if its the same sex as them xxx

The whole "issue" is a tempest in a teakettle, if you ask me.
I suspect the religious right is using it to whip the frightened masses into an anti-liberal frenzy.
