Salvation EQUALS God's Will EQUALS Knowing The Bible EQUALS WHAT? I hear you say the governing body have it right. Does anyone else have it right?

I know the Bible very well. You say I don't. I say you got the idea I don't obey The God of the Bible from THEM. Do you see any equals here?

Math - F Flunked. Try again.

You're not making sense. What exactly are you trying to say?

Are we really done because I thought this thread would drag on until next Christmas.

Have we come to the conclusion that historically speaking Christmas has little to do with the biblical Yeshua or am I simply being naive in thinking history matters little but what matters most is anecdotal views and experiences as to what Christmas is to the person?

Yes but little is not nothing. Is it?

Let's just say that the original holiday(s) had nothing to do with Yeshua. He was inserted, probably, later on, when people converted to Christianity yet didn't want to give up their holidays and traditions. So they made it into Jesus' birth.
One of those holidays it borrowed from was the Yule Celebration and there are probably others it borrowed from. :)

I think if (like someone said) the remembrance of Jesus' birth was to be moved to it's own date to observe and cleaned up THEY would follow it wherever it went and make it theirs too.

I'm a little confused in one of Mikes posts, really a lot of them, but especially the following:
"It's all in the inspired word of God."

Who, or what, could 'inspire' God to say anything ?
Who, or what, wrote those 'words' ?
What is meaning of the word 'inspired', what is the cause, what power is more supreme.
Maybe he meant man, the apostles and others that really wrote those 'words'.
Like I said...as usual...I'm confused again.

Come on Mud, don't be absurd. God inspired 40 different people to write the scriptures over a period of almost two thousand years. The books they wrote all mesh and agree with each other. It's called the Bible. Ever hear of it? I am sure you have.

1 Timothy 3:16,17 King James Bible
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The JWs teach that the men who wrote Bible scripture heard from God and wrote what they heard (perfectly) like a secretary writes for his boss. I keep telling them that all scripture does not mean every one but means all of it, like a tapestry. It is not good for what it was meant to be (I believe it is a conscience - also of course conscious - effort of PEOPLE) unless it is viewed like a picture. They break it down into strokes. And then surprisingly they lean on the strokes which isn't really possible imo.

Go to the museum. Really go! Find a painting which close up looks like any child might have painted it. NOW STAND BACK. What do you see? Genius beauty! That is how "ALL SCRIPTURE" is beneficial. They are looking close up at the strokes. And they are saying Perfect! Haha They lie.

Hey Mike,
I get that God could have inspired a lot of men, even some preachers, Rabbis, and such, even JW's,
but who, or what, someone, or something, inspired Him ?
From where did God's inspiration come, what was that supreme power.
Maybe it was a reflection from down below, yahh..that might be it...ya think ?
What was the 'cause' of God's words that were written in that book of rules.
God's words, God's rules !

I can't imagine how hard it is to do that. Their wild simple strokes only look like color close up but then stand back and a picture appears out of the chaos of color strokes. I think that if The Bible were to be viewed that same way the feeling of amazement and awe would be so much more than believing each stroke is God accomplished. Each stroke is not God inspired. The picture is.

P.S.
An 'inspiration' to or an 'inspiration' by.
Find the source and find the cause.

Jehovah God Himself created all. No one insipred Him. The scriptures aren't a book of rules. The Bible is a book designed for two reasons: to sanctify (make holy) God's personal name, Jehovah; and to set up the coming government, His Kingdom, with His son as King.

You are right. The scriptures are not a book of rules. So one must wonder why your people make it so. Not your people? Then why do you keep trying to make them our people?

I don't try to make anyone "your" people. I merely comment on posts and the topic of this blog, answer a few questions, and look for honest hearted people to point them to Jehovah. I don't proselyze, or attempt to make anyone think anything. I do try to make them think though.

God's arrangements for elders and a governing body made up of annointed ones who are elders was made out of love for us. You reject God's arrangement. You therefore reject God as well. I can't understand why anyone would EVER do such a suicidal thing, but to each their own.

You should hear yourself. You really are saying when we reject God's arrangement of the gverning body and the elders we reject God "as well". And doing so is suicidal. I don't believe it. I believe God.
