Does God exist....

Get me off of this planet
I think Highlander was ahead of it's time... The Gods are immortals, am I right?

+ highlander.

Contemporary ideals of Gods may be slightly exaggerated.

If I am not mistaken, I don't think the op was suggesting it is bad. It was more of asking for critical analysis of why people come to such beliefs and what role the psyche has in this construction.

Oh, sorry. My comment was a general statement and not meant directed at the OP. It was meant more for people who tend to use that argument (I used to use the argument when I considered myself an atheist) of 'god is a figment of our imagination, etc...'

:) Thats why I put that clause in the beginning, so it wouldnt state I was questioning a believers sanity.

What you heard, were they words, or some feeling, such as a strong conviction that some action is the right or wrong one to take?
It was words.

Well, there are many happy atheists in the world...who would say you are wrong. I desire to believe, but if others don't...perhaps they know something we don't. lol Just like we think we know something they don't.

Life is funny that way. :)
Well, I think atheists are dead wrong and I'm 100% sure of that. They can go on thinking I'm wrong. I don't care.

It was words.

St. Frankenstein:

I have often had the experience of being reminded of scripture, which is an experience Christ appears to describe:

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remindyou of everything I have said to you.
(John 14:26)

But are you saying God often speaks to you in ways other than reminding you of scripture?

Ah, I don't mind that. Was waiting for you in chat btw. Well there are several things that my curious nature questions. Is this "wrong" activity something you were taught was wrong (by your parents or society) why did you feel no guilt, was this the first time you were engaging in such a behavior, how did this activity contribute to your mental state at the time and location (generic of course) is important as well. If for instance you were smoking marijuana, first we can note that drug use has a correlating relationship with triggering psychological conditions, we can also note that drug use is seen as wrong by many cultures. While you remember consciously feeling "no guilt" an act that was likely instilled as an immoral act is likely one which a person would actually feel some ambivalence toward. And if not consciously then certainly subconsciously as the society in which they live or the people that raise them have instilled such views.

Well, it was at a time in my life when I had experimented with pot, but I was not high at the time.

Not necessarily God Himself. There are Angels, especially our Guardian Angels.

From a non spiritual perspective, internalized words that are signals from the mind in some people to hear if they are in dange, comfort over the loss of a loved one, fear of dying, and such. For me, it was someone, if you like, shouting NO so loud in my ear that I could not attribute them to intentional thinking. I will guess people who believe in God will attribute that No from Him as a warning sign. Some will do so their ancestors and family members. Some find it purely psychological. Others dont label it and let it be by listening to that voice without discriminating where in should come from and if th origin is more important than safety or comfort.

What you heard, were they words, or some feeling, such as a strong conviction that some action is the right or wrong one to take?
I would add they are feelings to. The result of the voice heard leads to feelings of say panic or love.
