Does God take humanity seriously?

the word "Islam" means "submission" to God

She's got the power to help us, but she doesn't. Does God take humanity seriously, at all? Does she care?
we called Allah/God in male pronoun (he ) , it's first time i notice some one called God as female "she"

anyway :

God said in the Quran :
23-115
Deemed ye then that We had created you for naught, and that ye would not be returned unto Us?

But people do help others. Many people do a lot, some do a bit. The difference is that humans are relatively weak creatures compared to God. Too many flaws. So lots of people don't help for one reason or another. God, on the other, is supposed to be all-powerful and compassionate, and perfect to boot. So whats going on? Wheres the cavalry?

I think there were some good ideas posted here, like God actually being lazy or uncaring, or weak, or unknowledgeable. God could even be evil, or just a joker who laughs at humanity every day when he tunes in at 8:00pm to watch his favorite reality show

People help each other but a lot don't and take advantage of each other when they're down ...check out what happened after Katrina...etc. I think a lot of people are influenced by their religious teachings to help other people out.. Others might have their values instilled as they grew up.

God is not a "Superhero" who is going to fly around rescuing people ...

The real villains? The levees were not properly maintained for the storm conditions so it was human error:

In 29 August 2005 there were over 50 failures of the levees and flood walls protecting New Orleans, Louisiana, and its suburbs following passage of Hurricane Katrina and landfall in Mississippi. The levee and flood wall failures caused flooding in 80% of New Orleans and all of St. Bernard Parish. Tens of billions of gallons of water spilled into vast areas of New Orleans, flooding over 100,000 homes and businesses. Responsibility for the design and construction of the levee system belongs to the United States Army Corps of Engineers; the responsibility of maintenance belongs to the local levee boards.

God allows us to make terrible messes ... lie to people... of course I think they get their pay back..

So a lot of these disasters are generated because people build resort hotels along the pretty coasts..then they shake their fists at God because they lost their investments and so on.. There's a good chance a mountain could collapse on one of the canary islands that could cause a tsunami condition and wash all those luxery hotels that were build along the florida coast..that'll be the next disaster in all likelihood..

Didn't Jesus suggest not building your house on sand? uhhh..somewhere in Matthew 7:24 - 27

Dead in a mortal sense, not a spiritual one. If one only believes "When you're dead, you're dead", then, yes, I can see how that can be very distressing. However, since we're all going to die, it isn't so much about when or how we die but how we live.

What do atheists think life is all about? "He who lives the longest wins"? "She who dies with the most boyfriends wins"? What?

Go to Darfur or some other god-forsaken place and starve to death and see if that doesn't sap the spirit out of you.

I'm not sure whats worse, a God with a lack of compassion, a lack of power, or a lack of knowledge. Personally, were I a believer, I'd prefer the lack of power to the other two. I'd prefer the idea that God cares and is wise & knowledgable, but has his own difficulties and hurdles. I can see God saying, "You think you've got problems? Brother, I'VE got problems."

I am pretty comfortable with a God who lacks compassion or interest. Maybe we are just not that important enough to warrant God's special attention.

Do we give much consideration to the health and well-being of a colony bacteria that somehow accidentally rose up out of a swamp 500 miles away in some little backwater that doesn't mean anything?

I know I don't.

Our planet has seven billion people, many of whom are starving, or caught in civil wars. Others who live in wealthier parts of the world are greedy and corrupt, only caring about themselves. There are diseases that kill, and diseases that cause billions of people suffering and irritation. Natural disasters sometimes takes the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, some with families and young children. Wars take the lives of millions. Genocide millions more.

While all this is constantly happening, God does nothing. He doesn't lift a finger to stop a natural disaster. He doesn't intervene in genocides, and millions are butchered. Drought stricken countries don't get rain, and while God could make it rain, he doesn't.

But, we are told that he really does care! He sends us prophets once in a while. So, while we could really use some food in areas where people are starving, or maybe have God eliminate disease from the world, God's idea of helping us out is to send a prophet who will tell us how great and powerful of a guy he is. Gee... thanks.

But, he also allows the creation of hundreds and thousands of mutually exclusive religions to form on earth! How do we know which ones are telling the truth? It would be nice if God came down and told us once and for all, maybe by giving a press conference on video. But has he showed up? No. He is content to let humans remain confused and ignorant as to what he wants, and being forced to resort to faith in one religion or another. Wow, how lucky we are!

He seems content to allow the world to continue to be populated by the stupid, evil, cruel, violent, foolish, and insane, to name but a few of the messed up folks we are so blessed to have on our world - and, God is content to allow genocides, natural disasters, wars, famines, floods, droughts, to name but a few of the massive list of problems that plague our species...

God takes humanity every bit as seriously as he takes every other sentient lifeform in the universe.

Do I really need to go all the way to Darfur to suffer hardship? Can't I suffer it somewhere closer? How certain are you of my biography and whether or not I've had hardships, either suffered myself or witnessed it locally or across the globe?

Do you really mean this statement with the assumption I've never suffered or are you simply looking for an emotional appeal with a little bit of a personal attack?

Do you want to compare life experiences? I'm curious about your aims.

If God takes us seriously, She cares very much about why we permit Darfur and starvation to continue. The only reason people are starving now is us.

A good portion of humanity is either starving or on the brink, so it isn't rare.

Agreed. Whose fault is that? Is it a reflection on our race, the human race, that we haven't done more or is it a debating point from atheists anxious to prove there is no such thing as a spiritual component to our existence?

The only reason people are starving now is us.

Would you save those people if you could? Would you relieve them of their agony? Would you do so if you were God, and had the power to save them? Or would you sit back and watch the show, as God seems to be doing?

God is merely allowing us to suffer the consequences of wanting to live our lives without His intervention. It is mankind's ways, so contrary to God's way, that have brought this unhappy state. Had God's way been followed, it would have inevitably led to the opposite OP scenario.

Suppose God had forced men, against their wills, to have lived according to his laws? Can't you almost hear the defiant, rebellious, human race indignantly screaming at God, "It's not fair. You can't cram your way down our throats. How do you know our way would not have been better!"

Being the gentleman that He is, He's letting us have our way for now. But there will come a time when His way will reign. When He will give every man, woman, and child that ever lived, an opportunity to experience His way and choose between the two.

The argument is that If God has the power to stop it, but chooses not too, that its his fault.

Yes, humans have the responsibility to work on solving our own problems, and yes we are often the cause of them. However, thats besides the point. You can't ignore the argument, which has nothing to do with our responsibilities. Look at it this way. If you personally had the power, with the snap of a finger, to relieve all the needless suffering on earth, wouldn't you do it? I think I would. God is in that position, yet does nothing.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Lets slow down here! I don't remember wanting to live my life without his intervention! Im pretty sure neither do you. So hes going to hold us responsible for what some ancient people way back did? Oh, swell...

It is mankind's ways, so contrary to God's way, that have brought this unhappy state. Had God's way been followed, it would have inevitably led to the opposite OP scenario.

This makes me think of a parent who watches his little child go near fire. The parent says, "Stop youll get burnt!", but the child says "No I won't!" Instead of grabbing the child and restraining it, the parent says, "Fine, have it your way. You can touch the fire all you want, and on top of that Im abandoning you. Now you can live your own life the way you want!" Is this responsible behavior on the parents part? No, it isn't.

Suppose God had forced men, against their wills, to have lived according to his laws? Can't you almost hear the defiant, rebellious, human race indignantly screaming at God, "It's not fair. You can't cram your way down our throats. How do you know our way would not have been better!"

Then maybe its time to adjust our genetic code so we don't have as much adrenaline and testosterone pumping through our bodies. We'd be a lot less aggressive then. But, once again, God doesn't lift a finger to help us.

Being the gentleman that He is, He's letting us have our way for now.

Gentleman? Ive got some other adjectives for the kind of being your describing.
