Does homophobia make sense?

I mean...inspired by a recent controversy...in the religious, ecclesiastical field...
does the sentiment of homophobia that heterosexuals may feel, make sense?
I think it's irrational and self-contradictory.

I mean...I am straight. I am into men.
If the most beautiful women are gay...it means that so many men will be single and available....because they will leave them alone.
In other words....more lesbians = more single men for me.

I wonder what Freud would say about this weird self-detrimental homophobic sentiment...many straight people have.
It's a psychological detail that makes you think.

Give me your take. :) ;)
Phobia is an irrational fear. Nobody has an irrational fear of homosexuals. The term Homophobia was coined as a pejorative for those who dislike, or disapprove of homosexuality

It actually fear of man/humans

Homophobia

Homo -man/humans
Phobia -fear

No. The person who coined the term did not have that in mind, and those who use the term don't have that in mind either
Doesn't matter. Maybe they should have coined a better word.
The fact is the word breaks down to..

Homophobia

Homo -man/humans
Phobia -fear

In my experience the term homophobia is simply slapped onto people who disagree with woke ideology. It's a way of classifying people and so you dont have to deal with them. Label them homophobic and then they can be ignored. It's nothing but word games.
What is this "woke" thing about?
Most of the time when I hear/read about it is being used as some sort of insult.

If you have had a bad experience of a homosexual trying to groom you like I have it might. As a child you tend to develop phobias because of things happening around you that you can't quite understand.

However, I've come to see the actions of an individual don't necessarily represent the behavior of the whole.
That is the only real fear a man could have from homosexual men, being raped by a homosexual predator, stronger than them.
Irrational would be to extend the fear to all homosexuals or homosexuality as a concept.

...which is extremely unlikely in Italy.
As far as the Pope allegedly said in the Bishops's Conference, there are too many of those who.... he used a slur that specifically describes the effeminate, passive gays. It's a very specific term.
He didn't mean the hyper-masculine active ones (or as they call it in English, tops).
Our language is incredibly rich in slurs also towards prostitutes (there are dozens of them and each with a different shade).

It's only an insult to people who perceive it as such. It's an ideology expressed in the behavior and attitude of people who are perpetually offended by everything. They are miserable, humorless and destroy anything thats decent. Its not an insult to accurately describe something. Would be an insult to call Hitler a genocidal murderer?

Ohhh, so it IS an insult.

Not to me, though. I enjoy the label (hence my title). It's true, I'm offended by everything, I'm miserable, humourless, and I destroy everything that's decent. You have me down to a tee.

I simply see it as a judgment and a label, not as an insult/attack.
If Bob is gay and I don't like men on men sex, why label me or insult me?

Bob likes it. That's his his life.

I''m not attacking Bob. I don't fear Bob. I think its gross. I don't have to like what he does. That doesn't mean I don't like Bob.

I would like to understand men's psyche.
It's absolutely the weirdest thing ever.

I have seen that several men find two men kissing gross, but then they are sexed up, they are turned on by two women kissing.

Honestly I find the image of a man aroused while watching lesbian stuff....incredibly gross.
:)

It's a very, very astounding contradiction...which means that it's a homophobia only towards gay men. Which can be the result of a unhealthy psychological development during puberty.

Then why would you identify as a homophobe?
