Does the non-existence of free will change your beliefs?

I dont know. Free Will, influence will, dream will, against ones will.

Whats all about Alfie?

Dreams are different than reality, and dreams do not imply free will. This is all irrelevant to the topic at hand though.

Intelligence means to select. Belief comes from beloved. Is love real if it is not freely given?

We do select. The thing is that we select what we were made to select.

For example, computers select, but they do not have free will.

Hey guys,
This time I want to discuss / debate how the lack of any free will may change your beliefs. I mean a reality that is absolutely deterministic (with the exception of God if that is what you happen to believe in, as to many God is outside the laws of reality). Assume that free will does not exist (and realize this is likely true). How does this change your beliefs on, well everything. For example, if you are a person who believes we must accept God, the lack of free will means that rejecting God is not our choice, and how could we be punished for not believing in God when God programmed us not to believe.

Discuss.

If free will doesn't exist then why grant it to god? God doesn't have free will to give.

Thats it. No influence can stop Free Will.

If free will existed, influence may, well, influence it but the choices are still free. But free will does not exist, nor is this what the thread was meant to be about.

My take: you need outside influence in order to really have free-will and a sound mind. If everything your mind desires manifests, that's pretty close to what one might call delusion. If one was an omnipotent being, then what would be more precious and real than a gift of love, freely given, that was not dependent upon that being's omnipotent mind?

If free will does not exist, it will affect my beliefs exactly as the laws of the universe decide it will.
