Does the world need religion?

Challupa, at least I thought so.
Hi Storm, no I am not saying Catholicism caused Hitler. However, Hitler was a christian. He was also a lunatic like you said. He interpreted his religion in his own unique way. But that is the problem imo when we can justify our own agendas with doing God's will. Do most christians go to these lengths. No of course not. But he was not an athiest and so athiesm cannot be blamed for his lunatic behavior either. That is what I was responding to when I pointed out he was not an athiest because the person posting seemed to be saying it is athiest mentalities that cause horrific events like what happened in the Holocaust and Russia. Does that help explain things better?

I believe religion is a necessary evil.

All religion have morals that are exceptable by societies standards and they challenge governments when they go outside those morals. Without religion all governments would have to be overthrown by civil war.

Were there is conflict they do cause problems but even without religion these problems still exist. There are radicals in every frame of life even athiesm. Without imposed morals would the leaders actually lead better.

There are always followers who follow.

Yes, it does, thank you. I'm sorry I snapped at you.

It just drives me batty when people try to blame x atrocity on y worldview, and I thought that was what you were doing. :sorry1:

No problem. I understand what you mean. I am not always able to say what I mean in a clear and concise manner. At least not as well as I would like anyhow.:)
