Seems to me Jesus did focus on the ' here and now ' of his time without worry about any inevitable end. - Luke 4:43....................Other people might find that no comfort at all but for me it's just a reminder to have realistic expectations and focus on the here and now and what I can effect instead of worry about the inevitable end. Especially since I'll probably be gone long before that point anyway.
Since the first century many are long gone, but those of us still alive on Earth at Jesus' coming Glory Time as found at Matthew 25:31-34,37 the inevitable is the beginning instead of the end.
We are all invited to pray the invitation to God for Jesus to come ! - Rev. 22:20
Come to end wickedness - Isaiah 11:3-4; Rev. 19:14-15 - but Not to end righteous mankind - Psalm 37:9-11.
'You may Not be gone' for when the powers in charge are saying, " Peace and Security...... " (1st Thess. 5:2-3)
that Rosy saying is really leading people down that old Primrose Path instead of the coming end to wickedness on Earth.
We can all focus on 'what I can effect' instead of worry and look to Jesus as a model or example to follow.
