EVOLUTION, what a lie.

Response: If the qur'an explains how something happened and a muslim doesn't accept it, they are not following properly.

Yes, I see. So what does the Qu'ran say about how we get different species or whether new ones evolve?

To all else: You see that Fatihah's only objection is purely religious, right? It has nothing to do with the evidence, which he hasn't even seen yet. He believes that his religion requires him not to believe that new species come into existence (I don't know why he believes this) so he denies the facts. If your religion does not require this, you are free to accept them.

So if a Muslim does not accept that Muhammad was riding the Buraq- a flying horse with a woman's head from Mecca to Jerusalem they are not following Islam properly?

Can't you just type [ quote ] (without the spaces) and [ / quote ] (without the spaces) around what you want to quote? Won't that work with a blackberry? It's really annoying.

YOU CAN GO AND SEE IT YOURSELF.

So this information on wiki is all false then?

Response: You can't see something that can't and never happened. And yes, the information is false. Not once in the whole article did someone say that they "saw" it evolve. You can't know that it evolved into another species and not actually see it happen. To day otherwise is completely absurd. You believe it evolved. So just the same way atheist say that theists only believe their religion to be true and don't have proof, you have justed demonstrated that atheist have a belief as well. A belief, not proof.

Allah tells us that He has created everything. He has revealed 99 names (in the Qur'an) which we Muslims can attribute to Him. One of them is Al-Bari (The Evolver). What we are talking about in this thread is the origin of mankind. To this, Allah mentions that He created Adam Himself and all humans originate from him and his wife Eve. Whatever else about other species whether continually adapting/evolving etc. Allah knows. On the aspect of adaption, we can say that some animal species have done so recently but man originating from a common ancestor is something we cannot except.

A woman's head? I'm not sure you are very familiar with the description of Al-Buraq. Long mane but woman's head?

Quote from Al-Israa' and Al-Mi`raj - Reading Islam.com :

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued his descent till he arrived back in Makkah. When he told the people what had happened to him, Muslims who were weak in faith doubted the Prophet’s report. Yet when his friend and long supporter Abu Bakr was asked to take a stand on the issue, he replied, "If Muhammad said it happened, then it must have happened. I believed him when he first talked about his divine revelation, why should I doubt him now?"

Thus on this occasion he earned the title of As-Siddiq (the Veracious).

( …and We appointed the vision which We showed thee as an ordeal for mankind…){The Holy Qur'an 17:60}

edit: If there is something that you are skeptical about in Islam you must research it and try to find the answer you are looking for. The prophet's journey is like a test for believers' faith.

Peace be upon you.

This thread is not about atheism.

So the only way we can know something is if we observe it ourselves directly? Any other scientific knowledge, such as all of that learned by other scientists, and all that cannot be observed directly, should be rejected. For example--you reject atomic theory, electrical theory, the theory of gravity, and so forth?

No. What we are talking about in this thread is the Theory of Evolution. (ToE) I gave an elementary explanation of the first part of that theory. (We haven't gotten to the rest, because Fatiha, amazing as this may seem, simply refuses to believe it, despite accepting every party of it. This is because he thinks that if he does, he will go to hell.)
To this, Allah mentions that He created Adam Himself and all humans originate from him and his wife Eve. Whatever else about other species whether continually adapting/evolving etc. Allah knows.
So there's nothing in the qu'ran that disagrees with ToE?

I haven't said a thing about people yet.

You see as a Muslim, you cannot have doubt in your religion. Because entertaining this doubt can lead to Shirk.

Peace be upon you.

You have completely missed the punch line. there are many descriptions to the Buraq in Islamic folklore, and many of them are with a woman's head, however you are vainly arguing the details of whether a fictional flying steed had a woman's head!!

taking for a fact that a prophet was riding a flying creature for a distance of 767 miles over examining the countless well researched scientific work on the phenomenon of evolution speaks volumes!

But don't you see a conflict in what the Qur'an says and what you are saying? If Adam (PBUH) was the first man fashioned by Allah, where does ToE fit in? Adam was created in form of a "Homo Sapian".

Did I say something not true?
That is not the point. Backbiting & Slander - an Islamic perspective

Peace be upon you.

[QUOTE/Autodidact]Yes, I see. So what does the Qu'ran say about how we get different species or whether new ones evolve?(End quote)

Response: All says in the qur'an:

"Verily, in the heavens and the earth are Signs for those who believe

And in your own creation and that of all the creatures which He spreads are Signs for a people who posses firm faith" ch.45:3,4

Also we read: "See they not how Allah originates creation, then repeats it? That surely, is easy for Allah

Say, Travel in the earth and see how he originated the creation. Then will Allah create the second creation. Surely, Allah has the power over all things" ch.29:19,20

Here we understand that Allah is the creator so all diversity was created by him. Originated by him. Then we are specifically told that in every one of Allah's creation is a Sign that let's us know how it was created. Therefore, if evolution was the cause, we all would be able to "SEE" it.

Response: We can also tell from the response above exactly how opened your mind really is and how vain your desires really are. Why else would someone adress the crowd or want to draw attention to their argument? Thanks for the confirmation.

Quran, Torah, Bible=Reveled revelations with absolutely no scientific value. These books are about how to have a relationship with God.
By refusing to acknowledge proven scientific facts, because you cannot reconcile your beliefs with the real world, shows a weakness in your faith.
You feel your beliefs are threatened by a true understanding of the natural world, why is that?
Why is ignorance preferable to understanding? Do you really believe God prefers the ignorant?

Speaks volumes of what exactly? It does not do anything for the phenomenon of evolution (especially if you've got an inaccurate description of Al-Buraq).

Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Harām to al-Masjid al-Aqsā, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing. {The Holy Qur'an 17:1}

Peace be upon you.

Response: When you believe in the Theory of Evolution despite the simple fact that you have never actually seen a species evolve into another, it not only becomes clear where the ignorance lies but a serious case of brainwashing.

Are you kidding me? just run a google search of 'buraq' and go to the images brought up in the search.

LOL I got it wrong? OK.. how about the prophet was riding a steed with a long mane, huge wings coming out of its back, this creature took Muhammad on a flight of about 767 miles!!

You have no problem to accept that as the absolute truth, but at the same time evolution is false? :areyoucra
