Geert Wilders not guilty

but didn't Kathryn make it quite clear her opinion is based on her own personal experiences of their behavior and that there were exceptions to this behavior, It wasn't based on genetics.
OK. I've had bad experiences with the English. Like it or not, the English are horrid people. Nothing to do with genetics. Is that anti-English bigotry?

No that's your opinion based on your experience with English people. ( and we have to be careful with genetics on these islands you could be part English) we could expand it and talk about those experiences or i could call you a Nazi and end effectively the conversation.

As has already been stated; race and culture are two completely different things. Some cultures have unsavory aspects, and I'm not sure what people are trying to achieve by pretending otherwise. It's simply dishonest to dismiss legitimate social concerns as "racism".
Aye, you did point out that people confuse race and culture.

Some cultures (all as far as I can see) have unsavoury aspects. Agreed.

I am concerned that Romani children are being exploited, abused, and live in misery. Three out of three. What a team.

What interested me in this thread was how that got left behind. ( not meaning you in particular)

No, I think it is more a case of blatant absurdity masked as a clever retort.

Evidently that does not matter, Kai. How dare you express your concern about the parenting skills of the people in question due to your blatant racism and illogical bigoted hatred. Have you no shame?

Right. That opinion strikes me as a bigoted one. Perhaps that's where the divergence lies.

I'm extraordinarily dissappointed in all of you who think that such overt bigotry is acceptable.
Speechless that you feed off each others views and have so little regard for your fellow humans.
Roma as I have pointed out before are victims. Victims of everything from forced sterilisation, genocide, human trafficking and educational and employment discrimination. And you paint them as the baddies.
It is truly depressing.

We know Roma are and have been victims stephen but there's more to it isn't there?

Theres a heck of a lot of stuff we need to find out about the Roma . This thing with the children and crime for example do we ignore it because of they way Roma have been victimized?

Do the crimes against the Roma give them absolution to do as they wish and ignore the laws and standrads of the countries they pass through or settle in.

Are we to leave them to their own devises because we dare not ask?

Tsk. See, this is what I mean by emotional, knee-jerk reactions.

Stephen, please recall Matthew 7.6 before you try and convince these people.

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

Look, Kathryn, Stephen cited the events in Italy. When you responded as you did you appeared to be suggesting that the collective punishment of Romani (and other travellers) was reasonable or justified.

And the Roma (and Travellers) in Europe ARE, like it or not, rather horrid people.

Having read through the posts following a couple of times I'm confident that you aren't claiming they should be round up and shot or whatever, but I'm still struggling to see how that wouldn't be interpreted as racism had it been another group.

Wow, that's really reading a lot into what I said. I think lots of people are rather horrid - but as I pointed out in an earlier post, I don't even think that JEFFREY DAHMER (about the most horrid person I can think of) should be treated as less of a human than you or me.

When or where did I ever suggest that these groups - or any group - should be targeted for ANY sort of punishment, based on their ethnicity? I find that very idea to be appalling and completely immoral - one of the very worst crimes against humanity that can be perpetrated.

I find their crime rates and treatment of children to be absolutely abhorrant. I calls it like I sees it. Collectively - I dislike the lifestyle of these groups. I do not hate the individuals, and would have absolutely no issues with anyone from Romania, or with a Romani heritage or immediate family, who decided to live a life free of crime and child exploitation.

But now I'm really being redundant. This is officially the last time I will make that point on this thread!

Nothing like keeping the conversation classy. Refer to those who speak against your thinking as pigs. That's just fricken spiffy. Nice work.
