Genuine Question Regarding Anti-Semitism

I posted a similar thread asking why anti-Semitism still exists in European countries, in pockets of the U.S., and elsewhere. In honestly appalled by it, and I would like to understand why Jews have historically been persecuted repeatedly.

The last thread got derailed with personal attacks, and that is unacceptable. Please stick to the topic, as I've had members ask to have the thread restarted so they could reply. Don't make us shut another thread down.

Why does anti-Semitism still exist and why have Jews in particular been persecuted throughout history?

Same reason racism still exist. Islamaphobia, Sexism, homophobia, ect.

It's a tangent I know, but I'd love to hear your precise definition of Islamaphobia? To me Islam is a set of ideas, and a phobia is an "irrational fear".

I think Islamaphobia is a term made up by Islamists to assist them in stamping out legitimate criticism of Islam. This is not say say that there aren't bigots, of course there are. But those should be separated from folks who make thoughtful critiques.

I just looked a bit into the history of the term and that doesn't appear to be its usage. However I don't deny that it is a thing currently. I am anti-Islamic to the degree in which I do not agree with Islam and I don't think it is compatible with secular society. In this way I also have similar feelings towards Christianity and other religions. However I would never force this sanction on others except in cases where real harm was being done. Simply because the injustice of trying to stamp out religion (for however noble a cause one might feel they have) would be horrific and in the end very ineffective.

Typically Islamaphobia, in a useful sense of the word, would be those who spread fear and hate on the stigma of Islam and its followers (delving into the much debated racist nature of the school of thought) out of ignorance or radicalism. Actual criticism backed by knowledge and information would not be islamaphobia. At least not by my definition.

The problem I often see is that groups like CAIR toss the word around precisely to quiet legitimate criticism. It's similar to the reprehensible debate tactic of declaring your opponent to be a "racist". It's like a psychological priming mechanism - it doesn't have to be true to be an effective debating technique.

So, if you don't want people to criticize Islam, call 'em "Islamophobes" when they start criticizing. Pretty soon you've got the media thoughtlessly backing you up.

Hyperbole. There is no born hatred against all Muslims around the world. There is perhaps hatred against groups which use violence to propagate their version of Islam.

Regimes such as? If you need to go back to WW2 I have to point out many of the era's views were driven by religious thinking of some people and took time to take shape in the form of the death camps.

Again there is could be hate against some. Also you have to consider that hate is not always the word to be used. Some do not hate any group rather they do not accept views of many groups. Especially if said groups expect those not part of the group to follow their religious rules or opinions.
