God's Name Removed from the Bible

Sleeppy

Fatalist. Christian. Pacifist.
There are Kohens who knew the correct pronunciation, and passed it down. I know this is also true for other temple traditions, for example the formula of the incense.

So somebody has it, as far as you know? Would you say the Name is being used for some miraculous purpose?

That is only the consonants of his name. Prior to vowels, the Isrealites knew his name and they didnt need vowel points.

Just as you likely know what PTY LTD means... or BLDG or DR or MR

There are no vowels in the ancient Hebrew alphabet. Also calling him by his title is more respectable anyway. You really believe that we should be on a first name basis with the most powerful entity in the universe. I hope you don't call your parents, teachers, reverends, or anyone in power by there first name. that would be disrespectful. Which is the reason Hebrews stop using it in the first place. It is one of the !0 commandments. Using thy Lords God's name in vain.

'reverends' lol thats funny :D

Every language is spoken with vowels ancient hebrew included. It just wasnt' 'written' in the alphabet until much later.

And the Hebrews stopped using Gods name out of superstition. The commandment means that his name should not be treated as worthless or taken in vain. It doesnt mean his name should not be used or spoken and evidence of that is the fact that many Isrealites used Gods name in their greetings and their own names included abbreviations of Gods name in it and the name is written in the hebrew scriptures 7,000 odd times.

The New Catholic Encyclopedia explains what happened after the Jews returned from Babylonian exile in the 6th century B.C.E. It says: “The name Yahweh [the Tetragrammaton with vowels added] began to be considered with special reverence, and the practice arose of substituting for it the word ADONAI [Lord] or ELOHIM [God]. .*.*. The practice led in time to forgetfulness of the proper pronunciation of the name Yahweh.”

To call upon another thing is to request something. To call upon "the Name of YHVH" is to consider glorifying YHVH in all you ask for. A person can "make a name for himself" by what he does. It can be a good name or a bad name. A name means being attached to a reputation. Are you making a reputation for yourself or yourselves? OR are you considering the Name of 'Jehovah' with everything you do?

My son, do not forget my teaching,
And may your heart observe my commandments,
2 Because they will add many days
And years of life and peace to you.
3 Do not let loyal love and faithfulness leave you.
Tie them around your neck;
Write them on the tablet of your heart;
4 Then you will find favor and good insight
In the eyes of God and man.
5 Trust in Jehovah with all your heart,
And do not rely on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways take notice of him,
And he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not become wise in your own eyes.
Fear Jehovah and turn away from bad.

To live this way as in Proverbs 3 you must call upon 'Jehovah' and when you do you make God's name great. God's reputation. Not the sound of God's Name.

The time between "vowels" and "no-vowels" was a thousand years. And since the name wasn't spoken, its HIGHLY likely that the vowels pronunciations were forgotten (if, indeed, they had ever been known in the first place).

Wait a minute. You dismiss the Catholic Church as being not the "real" church, yet you use their scholarship to prove your point? Shouldn't the encyclopedia be dismissed along with everything else?

So i'm confused. Are you saying that Jehovah is just a guess at his name since it wasn't spoken in so long and forgotten to pass on the proper pronunciation. Also I disagree with the reasons for it not being used. You're calling it superstition and every one else calls it respect. Even Christians didn't use Jesus's name in naming their religion. No other religion does except your. I gather that was to differentiate your religion from others. That is using the Lords name in vain. Even though its not his name.

Gods name has been removed by Christendom. This is satan's plan.He does not want anyone using Gods real name. Then people will have a personal relationship with God if they knew His real name.

This video has some very interesting points in it and shows some movies that speak the true name of God, and shows too how God's true name has purposely been removed from a very famous song used in Christendom.Watch the entire video to understand fully.

The first 2:45 of the video gives some commentary about the true name of God.
From 2:45 to 9:55 it shows 3 movies that speak of the true name of God.The movies are Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,Monty Python's Life of Brian and PollyAnna.

From 9:55 to 13:19 it shows God's true name on buildings and emblems from all over the world.

From 13:19 to 14:49 it gives more commentary about the true name of God.

From 14:49 to 16:24 it shows the song that had God's true name removed and shows how it is used today by Christendom. It gives the original and then shows the new version with God's name removed.

From 16:24 to 17:25 it gives more commentary.

And how far back was their tradition traced to?

It remains unsubstantiated.

Monotheism to Yahweh did not take hold until roughly 400 BCE ish give or take 100 years

And by the time Hellenization took place, they quit using the name.

I would bet they did claim to know how it was pronounced, but how far that goes back is unknown.

Anyways, I won't purchase a Bible with 'JHVH' or YHVH' changed to another title. I want all the original titles. That's the main rule for Bibles, personally, then after that, I don't want faulty 'liner notes' either.

Yes, you did. I'm posting less right now, and am moving away from certain topics as well, I just noticed some things I wanted to comment on, no confusion intended lol.

No. It hasn't. It's right there: four consonants which, without vowels, is unpronounceable, except as a breath of wind.

Do you have a Hebrew bible?

No. But I can see YHVH on line. The web site I use has many Bible translations to compare. But to see יְהוָֽה׃ I must look up the translation to Hebrew. Here: Haggai 1:13 Hebrew Text Analysis and here: Haggai 1:13 Then Haggai, the LORD's messenger, gave this message of the LORD to the people: "I am with you," declares the LORD. No יְהוָֽה׃. I can't read Hebrew.

How rude of those other Bibles to follow the Watchtower's lead.

Young's Literal Translation
And Haggai, messenger of Jehovah, in messages of Jehovah, speaketh to the people, saying: 'I am with you, an affirmation of Jehovah.'
Darby Bible Translation
Then spoke Haggai, Jehovah's messenger, in Jehovah's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.
American Standard Version
Then spake Haggai Jehovah's messenger in Jehovah's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.
World English Bible
Then Haggai, Yahweh's messenger, spoke Yahweh's message to the people, saying, "I am with you," says Yahweh.
