I'm guessing you aren't any avid hunter.

Example... Shoot a bear with a shot gun and you just make it mad(unless you are a foot from it. Which I don't want to be)
Is that really a good enough to keep rifles in the market? Do millions of people just go shooting bears every day? A shotgun would suffice for protection against a bear.

(Better) gun laws don't make sense to me. Is it the law abiding gun owners that are the problem?

The criminals will have guns (or any other deadly weapon) and use them as they will with or without these laws.

"Hunters are only allowed a rifle"

What kind of rifle?
With some of the answers I am seeing, I am beginning to think some here that post about guns and hunting.... Are as ignorant about guns and hunting... as I am ignorant about transgenders, etc.

And no.. That's not an insult. It just means not knowing much about it

Like the "better speed limit" law back in the 70's when the federal government mandated speed limits be reduced to a maximum of 55mph?
Like...any law.

My point isn't that a particular law is 'good' or 'bad', but only that they should be judged on merit.

We have some ridiculous laws here I wouldn't support, but I don't think I'd ever resort to an argument that they won't impact on people who ignore the law. That's kinda just a truism.

Can you give an example of a better gun law that would impact the purchase and use of them by the criminal element?

I'm not a gun expert. So, I cannot be called on to give any advice on which weapons exactly.
Ok fair enough.
With that one rifle, would that one rifle used to shoot elk also be good to shoot squirrel.
Or vise-versa.

There's a very good reason why its illegal to hunt, say deer with a .22lr.

Honestly, I've lost where we are going with this.

My point was that those that are using guns for violent crimes will obtain guns with or without current or more stringent gun laws.

I wouldn't hunt them then. If a bear or hog is charging you, you aren't hunting.

Then you shouldn't hunt them. I do/have.

They are aggressive territorial animals.

People that have been attacked by bears/hogs weren't attacked because they bear/hog was running away.
It was charging/chasing them.
