If you're not doing it for procreation, then it is lust.
You seriously can't imagine any reasons for sex besides "procreation" and "lust"?

Here's one: intimacy... strengthening the bonds of a loving relationship. Does your God (or, more accurately, your opinion of your God) not believe that such a thing can exist?

If I was married for 40 years, God probably wouldn't care if I performed oral sex on my spouse. However, I care. All the righteous prophets He has sent were abstinent (John the Baptist, Jesus, Siddhartha). I fail myself if I give in to desire and fail to deny myself. That's what worshipers of God do, it'll never make sense to an atheist of course. But it makes sense to me, and all the righteous and the monks who have lived.

Anyway, to answer the original post one more time, I've always questioned why we feel pleasure when we have release. Evolutionists, atheists, etc. all feel that pleasure is based on a need to keep in mind the importance of procreation. However, I feel that its deeper than that. I believe in complete and total free will, in which God does not act in the lives of humans at all. So when we feel pleasure when we have sex, it is sort of a test. How will we use it? Will we use it for constant gratification, or will we use it sparingly as a reminder of God's greatness and procreation?

I lust, I'm only human. I lust all the time, but I understand it's wrong and strive to change it. I strive to change by reading the Books of the Prophets that God has sent, constant prayer, and self discipline. That doesn't justify the fact that I'm weak, but it's a start. It's nothing to be proud of. Lust is never anything to be proud of, whether that's heterosexuality or homosexuality. Homosexuals often are very proud of being gay. First of all, pride in itself is a major problem, pride in anything at all. But since homosexuality can never lead to procreation, thus is a means of sexual gratification, then that is worse. In God's eyes, the mix of pride and lust contradicts the words he has sent. Keep in mind, you can love someone completely, straight or gay, and still perform lust. If you give oral sex to someone, even though you love them immensely, it is lust and thus it is trouble. If you're not doing it for procreation, then it is lust.

You know, it could also be that sex is pleasurable just so we actually do it. If it hurt, we'd probably stop and then we'd stop having children and then we'd probably cease to be.

Those that find sex pleasurable have more children that will also find sex pleasurable. Evolution and all.

Wait one minute - you talk about the abstinent "righteous"... setting aside the question of how you determine who's "righteous" and who isn't, abstinence is not having sex at all. Not even for procreation.

How do you get from "don't have sex at all" to "sex for procreation is good, sex for anything else is bad"?

That poor girl :(

Well, thanks for sharing your opinions PVE. It does help give me some perspective on where some people come from. I of course strongly disagree with it, but the purpose was to try to understand motives, not necessarily to agree with it...

I don't think many people would disagree that sexuality will always be lust if its not for procreation. Jesus himself said it was a sin just to look at a woman with lust. Therefore, homosexuality is completely lust if we look at it in this manner. Sexuality should be enjoyed of course, and there is no need to just have sex once in your life for a child.
So in your view, homosexuality is inferior to heterosexuality because we're not having sex to procreate, but heterosexuality is fine even if you're not having sex to procreate. I don't think you've thought this through.

Thanks for that! All I was looking for was an answer like this. Never asked anyone to agree with me, but be as kind about it as possible. It looks like no one else was willing to give me that sort of respect.

Lol, the poor girl is probably accurate :)

It sounds like your Christianity has completely screwed up your view of sexuality, maybe your view of humanity in general.

We more enlightened people have found a third option, love. I understand that you're opposed to it, and I feel nothing but compassion for you and anyone unfortunate enough to be involved with you.

So you're celibate?

Celibacy is a very good thing for some people. It is a path that leads to the truth. Being only concerned about your own pleasure and not the pleasure of your partner is not being "spiritual" it is being "selfish". They are two very different things.

I thought it would be as simple as this, it is not. I do not have that option in my user CP.. =(
[mod hat on]

It's not that simple. The tech staff are working on the issue. Here's the deal:

To help foil spambots and the like, restrictions were put in place for signatures. One of the restrictions is that you need to have a certain number of frubals (5,000, IIRC).

When this restriction was put in place, 5,000 frubals was very easy to get for anyone actually participating in the forum. However, since then, we had a frubal inflation issue (seriously). To prevent technical issues with the forum, everyone's frubal power was set to 1. This means that now, when someone frubals you, you only get 1 frubal whereas in the past, you might've gotten thousands for a single fruballing.

Unfortunately, the net effect of all this is that newer members can't post signatures. The staff are aware of the problem and are working toward a solution, so I hope you can be patient while it's sorted out.

Wannabe Yogi,
You're absolutely right about this. That's why I try to avoid a relationship unless I can find a like minded individual. Of course, it's very difficult to find a companion who feels the same way.

It's a little baffling that on a "religious forums" website, some people still do not understand the idea of celibacy for spirituality. I would love to seek companionship from a woman who understands why I do the things I do, but its not easy to find. Thus, I avoid it all together.

As for homosexuality, OP brought up the correlation between God and homosexuality, and as expected, I was belittled for my views towards it, and eventually attacked for my own sexuality. How sad!

Someone attacked you for your sexuality? Who? Why?
You mean they said they think your sex life is immoral? Wow, that would be really mean. Who would do that?
Oh, yeah...you would.

Hey Smoke,
I actually do not even consider myself Christian. I follow God and all He has sent.

And yes, all of these prophets were indeed married. I didn't mean to come off to say only the abstinent are righteous, but the ones who inspire me were.
