I have a question for all members

Well, I learned a LOT about where people of different faiths are coming from. I practiced Hinduism for 2 years largely because of the Hindu members of this forum.

I learned a LOT about Christianity on this forum. Before I joined, I was one of those raving "Why do people believe this nonsense!" kind of guys, but after talking to all the members here and learning more than I might otherwise have, I have a much bigger respect for Christianity as a whole, and for the majority of Christians. The same holds true for Islam and Judaism. I also learned about other, less common religions like Baha'i, Asatru (what I currently am learning), Sikhism, and various others. I might not have otherwise known about them.

Besides, it's an interesting subject. Discussions and debates on religion are great mental exercises; I'm no doubt wiser for my time here.

And by the way, the vast majority of our members believe in God and/or Gods.

I am for debate on any subject. I am against anybody being told in a debate, they must put what they may have spent years proving, that it is just an opinion…that word opinion means, well, it might be true, or it might not. I believe, and this in not an opinion, adults if they do not believe something, will as adults reply, “Prove it.” And the poster
will either prove what they have said, or look like a darn fool.
I had said there are 10,000 Prophesies in the Bible,. One member replied as an adult…”Show me?” I have tha whole list of 10,000, in order of the Books they are found in the Bible. A work like this takes years to compile, and check out…it is not an opinion. I tried to post them by section, but the forum kept saying the letter count had to be a small number. So, I offered to send the member the complete list via email…I have yet to hear his reply.
That list is not an opinion, Does anybody understand what I am saying?

You need to spend a few more years learning what proof is.

Yes, I understand your frustrations.

I'm not sure what's keeping you from sharing a few of your findings. You're free to do so, you just have to present them in the proper manner.

Here's another way you can put it instead of "in my opinion"; you can instead say: "based on these findings it is my conclusion that..."

One thing you have to understand as well. Scientists often spend their entire lives attempting to prove their various hypothesis, and oftentimes they turn up empty even after decades of study, experimentation, and observation.

And for the record, we've all seen the various prophecies in the Bible, and it's easy to discount them.

I don't know if I will stay. There are a few people on the forum who believe in God, and want to share info. Outside of that, I have nothing to give to people who hehaw a God they don't even want to know, and offer me back the same hehaw..

I don't believe the forum has a true direction.The name of the forum is like a flytrap. Those of you who do not believe in God, how would you address if you joined a forum who's name was,"A forum for those free from the myth of God." And after you joined, learned you are one of just a few, who are not 100% for God? Plus, if you said anything against religion, God, the Bible, etc...you also had to make it clear, what you post is not true, or false, it's only an opinion?

I might stay or leave depending on if I like the forum. This isn't the only forum I go to. If I don't like one, I don't stay. If none of them fancy you, it isn't difficult to start a forum website.

By the way, it's "a forum whose name was," not "a forum who's name was."

Then post a few dozen as an example. I know of such lists, and I have seen countering lists of false prophecies from the Christian Bible.

Personally, I would be impressed with just a couple of prophecies that are precise. Not the stuff like "The nation of iron shall arise in the west, and sweep across the northlands....blah blah blah". These are usually followed by pages of interpretation of symbolism as to exactly what is meant by "iron", "west", "sweep across" and "north".
Give me one prophecy, written in ancient Aramaic that says something like "In 2001 A.D. on September 11th of the western calendar. Two large hi-jacked aircraft will slam into the sides of the Twin Towers in New York City, a huge urban center in what will be called the United States of America, on the North American continent."
THEN I will be impressed. :yes:

There are a lot of people who make claims without saying "in my opinion", what's important is that they back up their claims. There's no guarantee that they're right, but that's when the purpose of this forum comes in; you debate it and attempt to convince people with your logic and reason - the problem is, the second part of that purpose doesn't happen to often, debates often will branch off of smaller bits of the argument continuously and the claim that the entire debate revolves around is forgotten.

People are going to be more willing to debate you... kinda reviewing a prophesy at a time. Each prophesy takes an incredible amount of research on anyone's end to fact check it. No one is capable of examining all 10,000 of your claims. So, find one that's really important or something and make a thread somewhere.

Oh cool! I dabbled in journalism myself, but I moved to fiction a couple years ago, which is quite difficult and much larger. My hometown didn't have much writing jobs, so the gigs I got where not the greatest paying, but it helps on the side. And I post way too much here as it is, so, yeah, words spill out all over the place! No sweat. I don't mean to condescend. Just, nothing breaks my heart more then when I see an old post of mine and I have a shining mistake no one corrected me on. :sad4:

Anyways, I'm sure you'll like the forums if you find the areas you like.

I can do that, but I never post Gods word as an opinion. You clear it with the forum, and I will post it as the fact I know it to be.

My first love is fiction. I'm doing a small section of a script for play in San Diego. You might want to look into some of that work...it pays pretty good.
