OK Nooj, tell me why someone threatening beheadings on the streets of Sydney is not a total fruitcake who should be forcibly put under psychiatric care.
i don't know why you are asking me to explain opinions that are not my own.

evidentally you seem to have already explained it to yourself to your satisfaction.

According to darkendless, people should be punished for carrying banners.

We are upset because they went through the streets in a major city of our country and acted violently.

You keep defending these people and not once have you said that violence is uncalled for. You have only been defending violence.

You seem very determined to defend these opinions that are not your own, or at least to dismiss objections to those opinions as being symptomatic of xenophobia.

But I note that you have no answer to my simple enough question. Not surprising, as there is no answer which would be acceptable to anyone who objects to accepting medieval barbarity as an Australian social norm.

Absolutely people should be punished for banners calling for murder. Incitement to murder, or incitement to terrorist acts, are both illegal in Australia.

Hurting people is wrong, and I have always maintained that. But protests that do not involve violence ... ?

A call for beheading is incitement to murder, and incitement for terrorist acts.

How can you fail to make this connection ? The 'protestors' were effectively threatening the community with a call for lethal force to be used against Australians (or anyone) who fail to show obedience to Islamists !

Is this too difficult for you to comprehend ?

Another diversion. Face up to the fact that inciting murder and terrorism is illegal, because it is profoundly antisocial.

My point is, if a child is carrying the banner, will you assume that a child of five is calling for beheading? Or if you believe that someone has given the child the banner, how will you find that 'someone' in order to punish them? As you can see, it is rather blurry in such cases, and you'll end up punishing innocent people.

i don't remember defending opinions that are not my own or dismissing objections to opinions as symptomatic of xenophobia.

please point these instances out to me. if true, these gaps in my memory may be indicative of a serious problem with my mental health.

your question presupposes that i think someone threatening beheadings on the streets of sydney is not a total fruitcake who should be forcibly put under psychiatric care.

since you know what i think better than me, you already know my answer too. so there's no need for me to say anything.

In short, there was no physical violence, only your interpretation of the protests as potentially rather than actually dangerous.

There was a call for beheading. A call for actual violence .

That in itself is a form of violence. Which is why it is an illegal act to incite murder.

And if a baby was carrying the placard ... how about if a dog was pulling the placard on a cart ?

Huh ?

That's a killer argument eh ? What if a dog was pulling the placard on a cart ? Or what if they trained a parrot to call for beheading ? How idiotic do you want to make this debate ?

So tell us.
Do you think the call for beheading is sane behaviour ? Socially acceptable behaviour ?

See if you can answer the question directly without using classic diversions.

Isnt your country participating in an illegal war? Do you then wish to have your leaders arrested?

Let me make something crystal clear. I share the streets of Melbourne with a lot of muslim people. If I hear a muslim stating that anyone who insults the prophet must be beheaded, then I am put on notice that my behaviour , my conversation, my artworks, must be approved of by Islamists unless I want to risk being the victim of a ritual beheading.

So Nooj and Music, do you feel that I am obliged by the quran to modify my behaviour ? Is it OK that I should feel under threat of lethal force if I do not cooperate with the Islamist agenda ?

Is that not what the 'protestors' were communicating to me ?

That is diversion #1.
