Identical symbolism in Non-Abrahami and Abrahamic Scriptures

Oh, I'm just an investigator of truth. These days such people are treated in our very humane mental health institutions, fortunately, unless they can hold back the delusion enough to hold a job, support themselves, and otherwise contribute to society.

What we call truth and look for as truth, can at times, be far from it.

Good thing is we have that choice. In that way I would not change life as it has taught many hard lessons.

I would guess, as we are much the same age, that you also have found this to be so.

Then at times, I would like to put an older wiser head on younger shoulders.

Neither are the Baha'i Laws aimed at revenge, but I suspect you would not like to see how that is so.

I can say many Jews, Christains and Muslims could answer that for you as well, as Gods/Allah's Laws are not for revenge, they are pure justice.

Regards Tony

How is burning someone for arson not revenge? Have you ever been burned? Do you know how much pain is involved? It's actually a torture. So torture is a fair punishment?

So, within the Bahai religion, there is not a clear, definitive understanding of who were and who were not Messengers.

Considering that Bahai is based on the concept of different Messengers for different times, I find that to be, how to put it politely, puzzling.

One other puzzling thing is the timing aspect - one Messenger for each different time. Yet within just a few years you had The Bab and Bahá'u'lláh. Then Bahá'u'lláh shut the door and said no more Messengers for 2000 years. I guess it's a good thing, for your belief system, that The Bab didn't make such a pronouncement.
Wait until they explain to you the prophesied "twin manifestations". One "prophecy" is the Three Woes of Revelation. The first Woe is Muhammad. The next one is the Bab. And it says the third Woe is coming quickly, so obviously it was foretold that Baha'u'llah would be within a few years. Except when I read about the Three Woes, they don't sound like it's a prophet coming. It sounds like the $&%* is going to hit the fan.

In one Bible story God told one of the Hebrew soldiers to draw their sword and kill the guy next to them. It worked. The next battle the Hebrews killed the enemy exactly how God told them. So God doesn't do out of revenge but to teach a lesson.

Which begs the question ... If the guy is dead, what lesson did he learn, that he can continue to apply?

The important thing is to accept the Messenger applicable to the day we live in.

Christ said Elijah always comes first. For the promised day of God, Elijah, the Gate (Bab) was also given direct Revelation from God. The Message of the Bab was to prepeare humanity for Baha'u'llah.

Baha'u'llah said 1000 years before the next Messenger.

God doeth as He Willeth and for us it is to look for the good in all things and do good.

Who was the "Elijah" of the other messengers? Like Moses for instance.

He was in the time of Islam's propensity, and he was born into an aristocratic family, so that explains a lot of it. But the constant dehumanising of others is a bit much for me also. Seeing burning an arsonist is a bit much. We're just really lucky they're not in charge of the planet now.
There's this hot lady at the gym I've been thinking about asking out. But I don't know, if it works out and we start getting serious, where am I gonna get some mithqáls of pure gold. You got any?

@Tony Bristow-Stagg - now you come across as an apologetic

This to me solidifies that the religion is rooted in the 19th century and not "the new religion for the new age" - the punishments are barbaric to say the least -
India is trying to root out dowry with laws given that even "modest" amounts have led to suicides among kids / parents unable to afford that sum.

And you said "Some of the laws yet to be implemented as the time is not right" - I do not believe that time will ever be right to burn someone for arson
In God's golden age of Peace and Harmony, what are murders and arson still happening? I thought God judges the world and gets rid of all the bad people. Which shouldn't leave very many. So God doesn't get rid of evil in the Baha'i "perfect" world?

I have copper, if you're willing to wait 70 years.

But you may have dowry messed up ... I think maybe her family pays you. In that case it's not your problem.

We have a lot to face in this world and opinions do change. Consider I also have to find the Balance in these laws as well. I have studied and found my balance. Some feel they do not have to and tine will unfold what will be.

The new world thought is not something I would support with too much eagerness. I really appreciate the morality that has now been lost for quite some time, we will find it again, as my journey shows to me it is possible on a grander scale. My grandmother would never offer any swear word, darn was very bad. People wore more cloths on the beach, quite appropriate in my opinion.

Regards Tony
A wise man once said, "If God intended for us to go naked, he would have created us that way." A religion that goes way overboard on its morality positions, isn't going to do to well. What are Baha'is going to do? Have segregated beaches where Baha'is can go and not see too much skin? But just how much is too much? Legs are pretty sexy? Cover 'um? How about arms? What about feet? What about a woman's face and hair?

Has any laws, in any religion, ever worked? Baha'i laws against drugs, alcohol, and any kind of sex outside of marriage, I don't think will be all that successful.

Oh... Oh, well that's different. Yeah, then I want that higher amount that was talked about. I gotta buy a new work truck. I think I go propose tonight after she gets out of her aerobics class. I'm beginning to see the wisdom in this Baha'is stuff.

And as had been borne out in other threads especially in the posts of @viole and @ChristineM - some of us would happily take human laws over god's - indeed if god came down and preached them - he would be shown the inside of a mental institution

Within religions, perhaps. I've never looked into it much. Civil laws are just there to provide some sort of protection from nutcases I think. Some sort of order. Of course Baha'is also have the conundrum of saying their laws only apply to Baha'i, yet expect that some day the whole world will 'see the light' and convert. In that case it will apply to the world. It's laughably unreasonable.

We all learn submission in one way or another, if not, anarchy reigns.

Muhammad came to teach us that great lesson.

We? Us? I don't think many non-Muslims, other than Baha'i, would agree to that. I certainly don't.

It may be you are yet to consider what is the submission asked for.

If you do not practice submission, then you are saying one does not follow any law! If one does follow law, that is submission, and in that submission the foundation of liberty is found.

No comment on Abraham and Moses. Who, as the story goes, made some mistakes along the way.

All that I can say is that God works in mysterious ways. I just ask what lesson am I to learn and what am I missing if I can not understand? They have proven that they were Messengers from God.

I was going to research that one day, I never got around it to date. There would be someone or more. The Bab had twin lights lighting His way as well.

If Christ said Elijah always comes first, there is an Elijah for each Revelation that Christ has given as the First and the Last in all the Names of God.
