Until messianic days, it doesn't matter who rules Israel, as there is no proper court which can carry forth biblical commandments on a capital level. So, "no."

Do you think a God who created the universe would give any thought at all to someone picking up sticks on a certain day of the week, much less demanding that His people take rocks and crush his skull? What kind of person could do such a thing and think he was doing it for a righteous God?

Im just fed up with the frame of thought that unfortunately is still around today, that God has a need for people to kill in His name. This is sickening. Ancient history does not apply to today in this sense.

Modern day Israel is not currently a theocracy. If it were and if the children of Israel were still under the covenants they made with God under Moses and up until the time when they asked Samuel for a king... then such a law might still be in force. As it is, since Israel broke their covenant with God, making it of none effect, they are and have been left to themselves; which is why they have been dispersed around the world and are only now beginning to be restored.

When the Messiah comes a new and everlasting covenant will be established.

What is sad is we have enough information and knowledge over the past few thousand years, to not KEEP making ancient mens mistakes.

No, "devout Jews" would not be permitted to kill Sabbath breakers or any other Law breakers. The court system necessary for killing Law breakers is impossible to establish without the Messiah's aid and by then there would be no Law breakers.
