If I were not a _________, I'd probably be a _________.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but isn't meat consumption, at least eating cow, is forbidden in Hinduism?
Whoever told you that is wrong, killing the animal is where the problem lies. Eating an animal that died of old age for example is fine to eat, because you did not harm it. eating cows is looked down upon greatly in Hinduism because we move onto cows milk from out mothers mimlk, which is what kept us alive, so in essence that means a cow has kept the role of a mother in our life (it does sound a little silly)

The killing is the problem, not the consumption.

I had a mushroom sauteed steak just last night with Caesar salad and a lovely Hoegadden. There's nothing better that exists.

It's hard to say what I would be if I wasn't Christian (Catholic/Orthodox/High Anglican) because I sort of sit at the fringes of very many of these communions and am very versatile and fluid within them. Further, I can't imagine foresaking my Romanian/European heritage because then I would have no cultural identity... I guess I could always join the American/Western trend and convert to a form of Buddhism that doesn't require any sort of hard work. :)

I'm not a huge fan of Hoegaarden. It's not that it's bad, it's just that there's a similar witbier that I prefer: Blue Moon.

However, with steak I prefer merlot or shiraz.

If you weren't a _________, what would you be?

If I was not a (No religion), then I suppose I would have to be a (Some kind of religion). As for which one...

I think I'd have to go with Buddhism. It involves a great deal of reflection and quests for personal improvement, and having practiced meditation in the past, it grants a level of inner calm that I never felt when I was Christian.

I've never met a Buddhist that was anything but perfectly warm, polite, and welcoming to everyone they met.

But I've met jerks in every other religion I've ever encountered. Even Wiccans.

If I were not an Orthodox Christian, I would be a Jewish person (I do not like using the informal word/title "Jew").

God has promised that Judaism would be His Faith, and Jewish people would be His People. Christians are also His People because we believe and worship the same God.

Jewish people are not held back by the "Law of Love". Without that law I wouldn't have to repress and regret any accidental "dislike" of some unnamed athiests.

I prefer being a Christian because the New Testament teaches Love and Forgiveness more openly.

God Bless,

A complex question …
I first became a fundamentalist, born-again Christian. Then at twenty, I became a Mormon. As a Mormon, I thought that if I ever became something else, it would have to be Judaism. At forty I left The Church, the Priesthood and Temple. I revisited (unsuccessfully) fundamentalism and Eastern religions and then I found New Thought and Unity. It is the foundation of what works for me now. Now, in my seventies, I find no need for any “ism,” any religion or church defined by the beliefs of others. What matters to me is an ongoing ever-deepening personal relationship with that Infinite Something called God and Christ.

If I were not Christian, I would probably be Jewish... after all, Jesus was a Jew. Plus, I have several friends in the Jewish faith, and a lot of respect for Judaism.
