SF,

I'm not going to pretend I know what you're going through because I've never been anywhere near where you are now. Broke? yes. Our of food? sure. But I've always had friends and family to depend on so even if **** really hit the fan, I could limp off home to my parents.

But I want to really encourage you NOT to even consider suicide. Now there's a place I have been.

You've looked around you and it seems crystal clear that everything is exactly as ****** as it could possibly be. There's no getting any lower right? The only thing to do is fight. No one can do it for you. I'm sorry you have to go through this, but please don't give up.

Just letting you all know.

If things keep going the way they have been today and we don't get any help from someone, it's out on the street we go. We have no friends or family, so it's either a shelter or suicide (and we pretty much refuse to go to a shelter since we'll lose everything and we can't bear to go through that again). So we're going to try to call some people we know to beg for money (it's not like we can afford to have dignity at this point) since we're out of options now.

will your local catholic church be able to help you out? Maybe they have provisions for those who have fallen on hard times?

Anti-suicide platitudes aren't helping, guys. I appreciate the thought but it's not working.

Hahaha. We just got off the phone with this one woman we know who does have a lot of money (she is a professor, travels a lot, drives a Mercedes and has a house in an affluent neighborhood) and she says she can't help us at all. What a fine "friend" we have!

Suicide prevention won't help. It won't keep me from losing everything. It'll be just as good as me going to the ER now (which I've done before and they didn't help me, either), except I'll be homeless when I get out.

Get help, Frank.
You're only seeing the end of the world, not seeing any of the other options or the other help available. Suicide doesn't protect your pets from abandonment. You won't have your things if you're dead.

Already tried that. They don't offer rent assistance anymore. We've known the head of it for years and she wouldn't even talk to us today.

I'm not going to have them alive, either.

It's not the only option, but it's not looking too bad. I'm tired of this life. You have no idea what my life has been like. You'd be sick of it, too.
If you think you are a Catholic, then consider this, Only God has the right to give or take life. You should not take precious matters like life into your own hand. There are many who would want their dead or almost near death to return back to life. There are many with incurable diseases like Cancer who might want to live. Consider this.

Stop talking about suicide prevention, as if I'm some sort of moron. I've been in and out of therapy, medicated and to the ER for about a decade. Suicide prevention is not going to keep a roof over my head. That does nothing to help the situation now.

Also, Drole, this whole thing was last minute. There's been a lot of miscommunication and games between us, the landlord and my mom's job and I'm not the type to boo-hoo over my life on the Internet. We have tried our options. The people we know with money don't want to help us and the poor people who do care, can't help us. Like I said, I started this thread to give people a head's up. I didn't plan on turning this into a suicide thread. My mom is probably the one more interested in doing herself in and, as for me, well...I'm just tired. It's now 10 at night and we get thrown out tomorrow morning.

I was recommended a site like this but is that really going to help in time? GoFundMe: #1 for Crowdfunding & Fundraising Websites

Do the poor people you know have a roof they could share? At least while you try to get on your feet? You could offer to help them with something - home repairs, running errands, etc.

I don't know how GoFundMe works exactly.

I do know that it is easy enough to set up a PayPal account and receive donations from it. All that is required is to let people know that the account exists and which email address is associated with it. You may then withdraw by way of a credit or debit card.

Now, will that work in the next few hours? I very much doubt it.

But really, having to find shelter for a day or even several is not the end of the world. I understand that it hurts quite a lot, but it is possible to overcome that.

If your landlord didn't provide you with proper notification, you may have legal recourse. See "What a Landlord Must Do to Legally Evict a Tenant" starting on page 28:

Tomorrow's too late. That's when we get put out. And I would rather die than lose everything again. I love my pets more than I love other people (not that other people care about me, anyway) and it'll break my heart to lose them. My mom's too old to start over and she said she'll kill herself if we're homeless. She'll lose her job. This is it. We've been through too much in this ****** life and I'm not interested in going through more ****. I know I'm worthless to society.
You are not worthless. Though we live hours away and we've never met, I still consider you a brother in a larger community; a community that needs more brave individuals like yourself who can brave hardships and keep going. Times may be difficult, but only you can draw the end of the line. We all have hardships, we all have difficulties, and people who have had it harder have had the strength to pull through. Throwing a pity party solves nothing, but it is hell on the psyche. Take things one day at a time, adapt to your situation, and jump at any opportunity that you find.
A wise man once said "Pray not for an easy life. Pray for the strength to endure a difficult one."

Hey Frank, you know you have lots of friends here, and we are all pulling for you. Look at all the responses you got!

Hopefully the landlord gives you another month to get back on your feet. If not, Luis is right, a shelter is fine for a few days. It happens to many folks.

You need to go out and get a job tomorrow. It doesn't matter what it is...sweeping floors, cleaning toilets...you need some income ASAP. A Welfare office can place you. You need to take care of your Mom and pets. They need you.

Good luck, friend, let us know what happens...and stay positive !!!

One of my mom's friends is trying to get us some money. We'll see how that goes.

Avi, I plan to apply for disability Wednesday. I'm not psychologically able to work. I can barely perform basic activities.
