Buddha left a lot of teachings and direct disciples, including a very large Tipitaka.
Meanwhile Jesus is described in remarkably allegorical terms in four largely mutually referential Gospels that were written decades after his supposed life, from a very few sources that are nearly lost to us, and even then a political decision had to be made to decide which sources to disregard and which to keep.

Key bit there. Who is doing the flattering do you suppose? Who can get paid to flatter you, do you suppose? I'm not going to name any names, but you perhaps should be wary of them. I wonder whom it could be and who would try to distract people by scaring them with tales of JW's, Mormons etc. Who could possibly benefit from doing that? Evidently you don't understand allegory. It is used to present the subject in a more descripive way and one that can be understood personally.
