She was hunting for sport. It's not inappropriate or outlandish to use a gun for sport hunting.

There's nothing outlandish about using a gun because it's customary to use a gun -- and anything that's customary is not outlandish. However, it's genuinely questionable whether it's sporting to use a gun. What chance does the prey have against a high powered rifle? I've known ever older children to kill large animals with a high powered rifle, and if a child can do it, what sport is there for an adult to do it?

Would you feel the same way if she was a man?

And her teeth. Don't rule out her using her teeth.

At least the meat was used for food, so how this is much different from the meat most of you typically eat on a daily basis? The meat industry causes far more suffering and waste than hunting does. I'm not saying what she did doesn't raise some ethical questions, but I don't think it warrants the outrage and backlash that it has. At least it was done legally and the carcass was used to feed people. It beats slaughterhouse conditions.

The only thing I found ? Is b-12 is a little hard to get with out some meat. And some of the saturated fats we need.

After all infants are reliant on mothers milk . Which is "animal' based nutrition .

B12 you can get out of milk and eggs without the need for the animal to die.

I dont have any problem on animal food as long as you dont have to kill em for pleasure.

There is no arguing about it. The ADA (American Dietary Association) says that a well planned vegetarian diet is a healthy for all persons on all stages of life.

All my blood exams show me in good shape and I ve been veg for three and a half years now .

I am not special. I just eat well.

I am not a saint either though. I buy milk that probably comes from places where the cows werent on good conditions, but I dont pretend I am better than the hunter. If I wasnt lazy about it or I could buy the stuff for myself I could select it only from places where I know they had good life.

The thins is I dont pretend hunting the lion for sport is any different than eating the meat for pleasure, which is the reason pele do it or well, a mixture of pleasure and habit really.

If the lion knew how to use guns they would use em.

There's a lot of things that are customary and outlandish.

I have a hunch that the sport was in stalking and successfully taking out the prey. It's kind of hard to off your prey with your hands from a distance.

Edit: I shot my first gun over the summer and my quarry remained stationary at 30 ft away. It takes skill to shoot. I imagine that's part of the thrill for her, seeing how well she can take the animal out from a distance.

Heck yes. Let's replace person of note from female to male:

He should have used his bare hands.

Alright then, fair enough. I appreciate your consistency. :D

Meh, she has balls, the problem is that she has the same lack of heart than millions of others by accepting the kill for pleasure.

This si what we do when we buy meat, which is more expensive than vegetables and devalues life for the purpose of habit and gastronomical pleasure.

Don't get me wrong. I don't have any problem with hunting, if and only if it is done Hercules-style, using bare hands. Throttle that sucka. :D

Arbitrary.

If the human cant use his tools then the lion shouldnt be able to use his teeth and claws.

Now that fight should at least be funny :D

I myself prefer a paleolithic chopping tool to my bare hands when encountering lions. But then, I'm all for hand to hand combat with lesser game, such as chipmunks.

In all seriousness, a guy who used to work for me was in the habit of hunting deer with nothing but a large knife.

The lion/lioness should use his/her teeth and claws; and, the human should use his/her teeth and nails. :p

Yeah, a spear or a traditional stick-n-string bow would be fine. I don't know how a human can take down an elephant with his/her bare hands.
