Is it wrong to advocate homosexuality as a sin?

Twins are satan's kids? Really? I had no idea. Any idea where that came from?

Since I have twins I have studied myths about multiples. Around the world - twins have been either great blessing from god(s) or even divine themselves or punishment from evil spirits or demons themselves. In some cultures twins were just taken to wilderness and left to die because of their evil nature.

Religions have also treated left handed very badly, children were forced to use right hand under harsh punishments UNTIL science proved that it is not a choice or sign of devil worship.... Of course left handed children in Islam at least are often forced to eat with their right hand because devil eats with left hand.

This is also a myth, it has nothing to do with Islam or the Devil. The desert nomads of Saudi Arabia and northern Africa eat only with their right hand because they wipe their but with their left hand. These cultures gather around a communal bowl full of food and scoop out a portion from the big bowl to their personal bowl with their bare hands. This is only permited with the right hand due to the afore mentioned use of the left. These were people who could not wash with water and so getting clean was a challenge and this was one way to meet that challenge. It is also why theives had their left hand cut off. It forced them to use their right hand to wipe their butt making it unclean. One handed people could not eat out of the communal bowl, they had to be served by another. So if no one was willing to serve you food you starved.

Why is it barbaric? It was a very effective method of keeping disease out of the tribe. Water was more precious than gold as it was almost as rare and much more important. Cleaning was done with sand instead. So why should we considered the very successful methods created by a people living in conditions that would kill 99% of people in a matter of days to be barbaric? Judge not least you be judged.

And if you are speaking of the punishment of thieves, how is it any more barbaric than our current methods of punishment? Do you have a suggested better method for dealing with crime in the environment and culture in question?

Cutting off a thiefs hand for stealing is the same as just putting the person in jail? I'm not talking about the use of one hand to eat and the other to wipe your behind but the cutting off of a thiefs hand for stealing in todays world, not in the past.

In todays world sure, but this isn't common practice in todays world, even in these cultures. They have jails and courts just like everyone else does. I was given a tour of the jail in Abu Dhabi once due to some mischief I got into while going to school there. It was a pretty good deterrent towards doing mischief I gotta tell ya.

If it is just a myth why then you can find it all over muslim website`?For example islam4parents. com

The Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded people to eat with their right hands and forbade them to eat with their left hands. He said, “The Shaytaan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand.” Narrated by Muslim (2020). This implies that eating with the left hand is haraam, and this is the correct view, because the one who eats with his left hand is either a shaytaan (a devil), or he is imitating the Shaytaan.

---------------------

Also muslims(coming from muslim countries) IRL have told that this indeed is the practise. Just because something is not done amongst few modern western muslims doesn't mean it isn't done in actual muslim countries.

What some Muslim fundamentalists believe today doesn't change the origins of the practice. I have lived in Algeria and met Berber tribesmen while there. I've also lived in the UAE and spent some time in Saudi Arabia as well. I enjoy studing cultural history and made it a point to learn about Islam and the countries I was living in. The origins of the right hand left hand traditions are exactly as I laid them out.

Ok, I think I need to add to this. The fact that in Islam, it is believed that Satan eats with his left hand is understood, but that is not the origin of the practice. The practice far out dates the religion of Islam and is also practiced by other religions such as Hindu. My point is that it doesn't matter what the reasons that Islam came up with to explain the practice, the origins are as I explained.

That of course goes without saying - EVERYTHING in current big faiths has origin in earlier faiths. From worshipping rocks to sacrificing God/God's son.

We had 1500 people in every state of Australia protesting today about same sex marriage. Good to see that people care about their civil rights even in the face of religious nonsense.

I think it is wrong to advocate homosexuality as a sin. I think it supports and contributes to prejudice against and ignorance of homosexuality. I think spreading the idea, that homosexuality is a sin, is harmful to many, especially gay youths (who are not worldly enough to see past the nonsense).

I want to know what other think about this.

Now, to be clear, I am not questioning the right to spread this nonsense. I understand freedom of expression and its importance. But just because something is lawful that does not mean it is right.

If you truly wish to know what others think of this matter! Why not go to the true source of information? The one who will really give you the truth of the matter! The place to begin looking for your answer to this, is found at Genesis Chapter 19. Read it through to completion, you'll arrive at the answer to your question. You're not going to enjoy the answer, but most today, don't enjoy Jehovah's answers that he gives for many of the questions set forth today. Read it! Get your answer! Shiner2

I love how we go in circles... it's not like anything has changed. Everyone is convinced that they are correct one way or the other. I mean really, does anyone feel accomplished if they've converted someone to their personal beliefs on the matter? Sure, there's the argument that this isn't a matter of belief, but a matter of truth, and that everyone who disagrees with the truth is a heartless jerk who just wants others to suffer. I seriously doubt people will be swayed either way by calling each other names and claiming snarky insults on the basis of moral superiority. But if you can't see beyond this and try to understand one another, you'll be butting heads for a very long time. Enjoy butting heads to no end. I'm sure enjoying the entertainment.

With respect, could you imagine a world of homosexuals, where a man no longer lust for a woman, what kind of family lives would there be. I think these people are scared for their world and their protest may have nothing to do with religious nonsense.
