Is Jesus God?

There is a cult in the Philippines called “the church of Christ” or “Iglesia ni Cristo” and called themselves Christians or followers of Christ also.

What they did was changed or altered or forged, like all other cults, Acts 20:28 “the church of God” to “the church of Christ” and teach people that their church, the church of Christ/Iglesia ni Cristo, are the one Paul was saying in Acts 20:28 and therefore, the true church of God, but nowhere in the bible do we find the “church of Christ” except in Romans 16:16 “all the churches of Christ” referring to the existing churches at that time frame, unless they were around already at that time.

Now, where did they get this translation from so they could justify that their church was the true church of God? The Lamsa bible where it says: “Take heed therefore to yourselves and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit has appointed your overseers, to feed the church of Christ which he has purchased with his blood." - Acts 20:28 (Lamsa version)

Their teachings are no different from your/lds teachings, and from jw/nwt teachings, to Muhammad and all those Unitarians teachings as far as John 1:1 is concern. They just have different names but the same teachings and all were denying the true deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God or “the Word was God”.

All these cults must agree with each other or they are NOT divided when it comes to the true deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, i.e., “and the Word was God”. “If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!” –Mark 3:26

In Hebrews chapter 1 it says, “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, -Hebrews 1:1”

Here in verse 1 the author was talking about the OT and if you notice that it was God who spoke to all the authors/prophets of the OT, i.e., from Moses all the way to John the Baptist. “For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John. –Matthew 11:13”

Now, who prophesied after John the Baptist? “in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world [cf. John 1:3]. –Hebrews 1:2”.

Here the author was talking about the NT or the LAST revelation of God to mankind.

Now, if you examine carefully, one of the basic components of any of these cults, their leaders all have some kind of special, exclusive or absolute revelation from God, especially the mormons, muslims, jw, iglesia ni cristo and even the rcc, or post-revelation from God or post-enlightenment.

The Lord Jesus Christ said “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” – John 14:6.

None of these cults believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way to the Father because of this “SPECIAL, EXCLUSIVE, and ABSOLUTE, REVELATION” that they have received from God. They all have this concocted, fabricated, formulated revelation from God after the New Testament or “in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. –Hebrews 1:2”.

And in addition to these, all these cults do not believe in the Holy Spirit, the third Person in the Trinity, or the ministry of the Holy Spirit on which all True Christians today are under His guidance. “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; John 14:16”
Funny you brought up Iglesia ni Cristo. I visited one for mid week Bible study one time because I was curious about them. I was living in a tiny town at the time, and this group purchased an old Baptist church building downtown, and I wondered what they were all about. At the time, I was involved in our local church pantry along with 12 other churches in our community. I wanted to invite this new group to join our effort in feeding the needy. They were very warm and welcoming, but I immediately picked up on their false teachings. They are considered to be a cult. They have a single charismatic leader name Felix Manalo who claimed to be a prophet of God.

They should not be confused with the Churches of Christ found throughout the world. The Iglesias ni Cristo are nothing like the churches of Christ in the New Testament.

You are spot on! All of the above claim special revelation from God. All claim to believe the Bible is the word of God, yet all undermine it in a variety of ways.

Im sorry you cannot prove the Galilean was anything more then a man, history shows he was a man who died.

Mythology states something else. We know.

Posting with no education or knowledge on a subject is not how you debate it.

People go to universities for knowledge, because bible cannot compete.
Last time I checked, the topic of the thread is JESUS IS GOD, and it falls under SCRIPTURAL DEBATES.

All you've done is put the Scriptures down from the get go. You have no faith in the SCRIPTURES whatsoever. You have the audacity to accuse others here of having no knowledge to debate a topic that is found in the SCRIPTURES. Yet, YOU have no Biblical knowledge.

You claim the BIBLE can't compete with knowledge. Let me clue you in. Christians don't rely on the wisdom of men. They rely on faith, which comes from the power of God.

Seeing the thread topic falls under SCRIPTURAL Debates, how about arguing from the Scriptures, if you think you can.

Stop undermining God's word here. Go to an atheist area of the forum where you belong.

I thought we'd gotten beyond this. Silly, naive me. Mormonism does not "undermine" the Bible in any way, shape or form. Stop saying it does!

Semi-christian hybrids perhaps is probably the right word for them.

They claimed they are Christ’s followers but if you take a closer look at them, each of these cults, all have a certain leader, claiming this EXCLUSIVE REVELATION FROM GOD, that they followed instead of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is “the way, and the truth, and the life;” and “no one comes to the Father but through Me/Christ.” – John 14:6.

So now there's a problem with a church having a leader. Good grief, what's next? Every Mormon I know (which would be in the thousands) believes that no one come to the Father but through Christ. We don't worship our church's leadership any more than Jesus' disciples worshipped the twelve Apostles. Better come up with a better argument than that. Or better still, stick to the topic of the OP if you can possibly bring yourself to do so.

Non sequitur

No im not.

Im pointing out YOU don't understand first century man made divinity.
There is plenty of evidence in the NT for Jesus divinity. Just because the trinity slowly evolved hundreds of years later, does not mean there is no evidence in support.
C&P again for the 100 times,.Ahem, Ahem, Ahem. I know you’ve learned this from "How certain are we that Jesus was historical" thread otherwise you won’t say that “there is plenty of evidence in the NT for Jesus divinity”. How many times I have to C&P this? That’s why you have to be very careful on what you write ‘cause it may go against you and prove that you’re lying.

Unfortunately, it's getting to where you have to start every thread in the same-faith debates forum in order that you don't have atheists throwing in their two cents worth.

You have no clue what I have or do not have. Faith is not required to understand these text, education is.

Excuse me? wow your pretty desperate to assume.

Which university did you study Paul at? under what professor?
Which university did you you study the NT at? under what professor?

What college do you teach these subjects at?

Christians don't rely on the wisdom of men.

They factually do. men wrote the words you live.

Stop undermining God's word here

What god? your god? there god? our god?

The OP is asking if Jesus is god, thanks for providing no evidence to support this you make it easy to refute.

Really?, your faith is so weak, it cannot stand up to modern education, so you rudely try to broom me out of here?

That is your safest bet if you use faith to guide your education and knowledge on these topics.

These debate areas are to, guess what! debate concepts. And debating requires knowledge on a subject, because different opinion offer little value.

I have more passion for these topics then most do, so I study. It breaks my heart when some theist close their minds to credible knowledge, knowing so little to start with, and refuse education and knowledge. Many are good people.

But yes if you want to proselytize your faith, the same faith section is the place to go when you debate with no credible evidence.
