Is Satan really evil

The Bible does not mention why they went to war does it. That's speculation
Hi Mach,

Man cannot attain the mind of God. There are a lot of attempts by people all over the world (ever since) to reach God by having a higher knowledge above/or be like God. Therefore, anything that does not mentioned in the Bible should not be added with assumptions or meanings.

Thanks

If Satan is Evil, why did one third of the Angels of heaven take his side in the fight against the Archangel Michael.

That is a vast number, he must of had something going they agreed with.

He was Lucifer, the most beautiful and greatest of all the Angels, he sat besides God, yet God failed to notice this Evil.

Surely he did not along with the other one third become Evil overnight.

Tanakh does not actually have an evil Satan. That idea came later.

Also, as has already been said, there is no Lucifer. Those verses were about a human king.

How powerful is this Satan supposedly, and if he exists with all his evil why doesn't he just crush us like ants
Hi Mach,

Actually, the crushing of Satan was already done and continuously done. There are a lot of system, deceptions, technique, style or variety that he (Satan) fabricated and formulated. If Satan rebelled God, the deceptions that I'm talking here are the things that is not in accordance with God's will and teachings.

By the way, Satan is powerful because he has powers and spirit being. But God is more powerful.

Thanks

Since Revelation is presented in signs or symbols, the third of the stars mentioned at Rev. 12:4 is not necessarily literal. It can symbolize a considerable number that is still a minority. I am unaware of anywhere in the Bible that Satan is described as seated beside God, or that he was called Lucifer. As to why the angels sinned, Jude 6 reports that these "angels...did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place." This occurred in Noah's day, when "the sons of the true God began to notice that the daughters of men were beautiful. So they began taking as wives all whom they chose." Thus, unnatural sexual desires led these angels to sin against God and come under Satan's control. James 1:13-15 describes how any intelligent creature, spirit or human, can turn to wickedness. Once one descends into wrongdoing, I believe there is a downward spiral into more depravity and evil.

Whether or not Satan is evil depends entirely on what you consider Satan to be, what you consider evil to be and how the two overlap.

For example, I have a friend who roughly defines evil as "intentionally causing suffering for its own sake or for personal pleasure/gain." To her, Satan is the embodiment of this concept of evil. When somebody tortures an animal, kills a child or exploits others for their own gain, they're doing Satan's work.

To me, evil is a much more subjective affair, I'd be more inclined to define it along the lines of "that which runs opposite to my own morality." I also see Satan more as the embodiment of rebellion against the status quo (for better or for worse). Therefore, to me Satan is more of a morally grey figure than an embodiment of evil or good.
