Yeah the OP meant right wingers in general when he said "far right". Which is stupid, because far right people aren't Republicans, they're usually fascists and white nationalists.

I believe Sunstone lumps us all together in his mind. He says I'm a neocon. That kind of has a Nazi theme to me. I'm just an outspoken person who happens to be conservative but still listens to both sides of an issue. My mind is really more open than many people think.

I believe the emboldenment of the far left brings out the best and worst in me. :sorry1:

the far right should be cut off and the right leaning moderates should become the new right.

imo

The Far Right has been mainstreamed in America. That's why some people don't realize the Far Right is the Far Right anymore. But compare today's Far Right Wing with Barry Goldwater, for instance, whose conservative credentials are impeccable, and you will see how the Far Right has been mainstreamed.

Fascists and white nationalists are beyond the pale. I'm not even considering them on the same scale as the Far Right.

It's a reaction to the Far Left of the 60s and early 70s. The Far Right hasn't managed to enact as much change as the Far Left [I'm personally grateful for that :D], but it's managed to survive over a longer period of time.

Yes, they are. On the traditional left-right scale, it goes roughly like this.

Communists/most forms of anarchism - Democratic socialist - "liberal" - centrist - conservative (Neo, paleo, etc) - fascist/white nationalist

Libertarians are a mix between left and right though. Left socially, right fiscally.

morally bankrupt?
as in love your neighbor as yourself?
yaaaa....

right wing, left wing,
two broken wings of the very same bird.

(come to think of it,
the more "grounded" that bird stays,
the better off we ALL are.
Both homeland and neighbor)

Exactly. Because those crazy hippies were trying to create a complete alternative to the society they were born into. The only real reaction to this could be to strengthen the already overpowering arm of the establishment. Like Dr. Evil said, "Freedom failed."

I consider right wingers to be general conservatives and the far right to be more extreme.
Hmm.

I consider mainstream Democrats to be right wingers and mainstream Republicans to be "far right", but that's judging US politics against the rest of the world.

That's a good point - this is mainly a matter of perspective since we haven't agreed on a standard continuum to base our discussion on.

It depends on the person. I don't think the "far right" is any more "morally bankrupt" than the "far left." Politicians (and their interns) suck.

Done here.
You all love to hate us right wingers. You forgot that we contributes more to charity than any other group.
And you're so proud of it that you never realize that most of your charities are religious charities, and quite often do more harm than good.

I'm paraphrasing, but Barry once said something like, "People used to say I was a fascist, and now they say I'm a socialist, but I haven't changed; the party has."

There's no such thing as "morally bankrupt". It's a just a term people throw around to feel better about themselves.

That's what the Far Right likes to say about the term "morally bankrupt" whenever they're caught with their pants down.

Please tell us what you think the "far left" does and believes that is morally bankrupt. The reason I'm asking is that I have found that when a hyper conservative describes to me a hyper liberal, I find that their description often fits no one I've ever known or met. Yet both their and my description of a hyper conservative will describe lots of real people, including themselves.

Under the careful eye of the spin doctors, the left is interested in alleviating the responsibility of a mother to bring her baby to term in an attempt to make her equal with her male counterpart who has sex with whoever whenever he likes with impunity.

What a lofty goal on the road to equality. So many should aspire to be like a dead beat father all the while calling it a choice. Teaching the art of ducking responsibility knows no boundaries.
