Why would you think that buying into Islam would have any bearing on someone being punished? With all do respect, there are a plethora of valid reasons for not buying into every belief system. And, currently, it seems stranger and stranger what evidence people are willing to disregard in the interest of keeping their faith. Shouldn't God reward skeptical thought as long as a person is living a good life, contributing to the greater good?

If God is cruel enough to punish for refusing to buy into a specific religion, he can't be claimed as just or moral. If that is the case, God is spiteful.

Why does Islam seem to lend itself so easily to being 'hijacked' by terror groups and pirates and kidnappers? Why don't they use Wicca, or Asatru, or Christianity or...anything else? Why does it always seem to be this religion? I'm banking on it having something to do with Islam.

This is actually a disturbing vision of the nature of God, imho. Just out of curiosity, is this present in Islam, or is this more your own take on the subject? Because, I think of God as being free from human imperfections like spite, revenge, vengeance, jealousy, ruthlessness, etc.

It's this sort of woolly thinking, this sort of drivelly cop-out that reinforces the stereotype that Muslims are intellectually stunted.

It's rather odd, then, that offspring never seem to materialise out of thin air - that they only ever grow in a woman's womb after the woman's ovule has been fertilised with sperm - which is always supplied by a man (at least second-hand). Surely there'd be a lot more immaculate conceptions going on if Allah was the one responsible.
