Even though Hamas may have duped some Palestinians to do their dirty work for them, or more likely present a distraction that made it easier for them to attempt to do their dirty work, that does not mean that the killing of civilians was not a massacre. Israel should have realized what was going on and used more discretion. This is not their first time that Hamas has used civilians. They should have seen what was going on right way.

The USSR annexed a part of Germany and gave it to Poland. This displaced 12 million Germans. I do not see Germans attacking Poland over it.

That's rather a stupid example. After WWII, Germany was destroyed, split in two and occupied for decades. They were in no position to attack anyone.
