Looks like Kennedy will suspend campaign, endorse Trump

It is only fair to point out that, despite never having bothered to leave the Democratic Party, Robert Kennedy Jr. has long drifted away from its values.

His support for Trump is hardly surprising, and ultimately not very meaningful at all.
IMOP Values left the (D) party long ago! Positions held by (D)’s such a short time ago would be considered bigoted and racist today! Harris is in way over her head!

How many Democratic party members do you know personally, or have read (lots of them write). I've read quite a lot of them, and I find tons of decent values, values that I share. So is your opinion based on your political leaning, or something more factual?

Now, I could point out some factual things about Republican values, such as the SCOTUS packing achieved by Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans, which -- using their own arguments -- were as hypocritical as it is possible to be. McConnell refused to even take up Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland, and then used the opposite of the argument he gave then to fast-track Amy Coney Barrett. Values? Hah!

It is expected that Kennedy will announce on Friday that he will suspend his campaign, and likely endorse Donald Trump. It seems there have been talks.

How do you think this will affect the election going forward? His support is somewhere between 5%-10%.
I think very little because it appeared that many supported him as a sort of "protest vote". I've done that myself before, btw.

Hillary Clinton 2004 "I believe that marriage is not just a bond but a sacred bond between a man and a woman,"

Barrack Obama 2005 “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.”

Hillary Clinton 2004 "I believe that marriage is not just a bond but a sacred bond between a man and a woman,"

Her husband cheated on her, just like Trump cheated on all of his. As far as we know, Hillary never broke or renounced her marriage vows. She endured him at his worst. How is it that you blame her for something that someone else did to her but don't seem as fired up at what Trump did to all three of his wives? How does this demonstrate that Democrats lost their values and not say the same thing about Republicans? Or is it your position that Republicans had no values to lose in the first place?

Barrack Obama 2005 “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.”

Except the record shows that Obama did not allow that after he became President. He was a senator when he said that. Are you completely ignorant of the historical record?

See:

The US Undocumented Population Fell Sharply During the Obama Era: Estimates for 2016

  • The undocumented population was 10.8 million in 2016, the lowest level since 2003.
  • The number of US undocumented residents from Mexico fell by almost one million between 2010 and 2016.
  • Population decline from Mexico in 2015 and 2016 was consistent with previous years.
  • Average annual undocumented population growth dropped from 15 percent in the 1990s to about 4 percent in 2000 to 2010. Since 2010, the numbers from most countries have declined.
  • In the 2010 to 2016 period, five major sending countries had large population declines: Poland (-47 percent); Peru (-40 percent); Ecuador (-31 percent); Colombia (-29 percent); and South Korea (-27 percent).
  • From 2010 to 2016, six of the top 10 states had population declines of more than 10 percent: Illinois (-20 percent); North Carolina (-16 percent); California (-13 percent); New York (-13 percent); Arizona (-12 percent); and Georgia (-11 percent). The only large state to gain was Texas (+2 percent).

Hillary’s quote was about gay marriage.

Obamas policy would be an obstacle today among (D) voters. Obama deported record numbers of illegal Asians.

I blame her for enabling him.
For attacking his accusers.

How is a treasonous, felonious, adulterous rapist who pushes a theocratic agenda (weren't you an atheist?) and who opposes democracy and liberty a "better alternative"? What do you have against freedom, rights, equality, justice, science, secularism, etc.?
I don't view Trump in the way you view him firstly. Plus his policies are simply better for the country and for myself as an individual.

Plus living in the People's Republic of New York, I know firsthand what Democrats actually bring to the table and it's not good at all considering how oppressive and least free this state is.

Hillary’s quote was about gay marriage.

So what? She hasn't repudiated that statement, only expanded it to include LGPT marriages. It wasn't just Democrats whose views have evolved. Many Republicans have gone through a similar evolution, although the mainstream of the party is still largely hostile to the LGPT community.

So? Obama did not face the numbers that have surged at the borders during the Trump and Biden administrations. Biden had backed a bipartisan vote that would have passed Congress, if Trump had not lobbied against it. So it was really the Republicans who lost their values on that one. Harris is more knowledgeable and better suited than Trump to deal with immigration issues. He is the one threatening to deport millions of people through administrative action. He didn't do that during his four years in office, and it isn't the lack of cruelty that holds him back. It would be a logistical and economic nightmare for the country.

After reading about many things written by Colonel David Hackworth, I oftentimes wonder how much these figures are fudged by the administration to make themselves look better.

We will add to that that Trump's conflation with unwanted border crossers and fentanyl is imaginary and false, the fentanyl is coming in in trucks through normal border crossings by US citizens and other legal border crossers. It is just fearmongering with false (lying) claims.

And today even the “man and woman” reference would get her thrown out of the party!
In my life time, they both had to be either black or white -- no mix'n'match, sorry. In my province of Ontario, a woman named Velma Demerson was imprisoned for marrying an oriental man, under a law called "The Female Refuges Act," that was not repealed until I was 14 years old.

We learn, we grow and values change when our knowledge permits us just a little more wisdom.

So plastic bags > uteruses? Is that it? By "least free", are you referring to regulations that protect workers, consumers, the ecosystem, etc?

I have asked @Twilight Hue several times exactly what "oppression" and "which freedoms" are being taken away. I'm guessing not being allowed to turn left on a red light is high on the list. (Really, all I ever get feels like "something is wrong: I'm not as happy as I should be -- it must be Democrats' faults.)
