Why should it be legal to advocate for marijuana and say it should be legal?
Marijuana has multiple medicinal benefits, and even recreational use leaves no victims, no one harmed, and leaves no one traumatized.
Rape, on the other hand, do have a victim, the victim is harmed, and the victim is likely to be traumatized.

That doesn't mean there's a reason to ban people from saying stupid or offensive idea
There is a difference between saying something stupid, saying something offensive, and saying something that advocates an act that clearly and blatantly is an act of a violent act that includes an attacked victim.

but why ban it? It's an easy argument to oppose.

It needs to be banned because it will inspire other lunatics to heed their call. Speech that promotes such violence should be crushed and crushed hard.

and the best way to deal with it is to tackle it head on using logic and reason.

Some of us find the right to "crush" speech more dangerous than some dufous fratboy types saying outrageous things.

That could work but if it doesn't other ways are needed. What are they? Firing Squads, branding them, poison, or tigers.

You do realize we are talking about rape here? And these are not simply fratboys with a troll army. They do have the means to inspire the most vile anti-woman nonsense. Any movement or rabble of hate has the potential to grow.

Because it is advocating, promoting, endorsing, and requesting a violent crime be made legal. We aren't talking about something offensive, we are talking about something violent.

The point is to publicly show how ridiculous the arguments are, to persuade people not to hold the views. If you ban the idea then all you do is drive it underground.

There's a difference between advocating for something to be legalised and telling people to do illegal things.

Frankly just asking the question is insulting to most persons moral standards.

To the O.P. How many rape victims have YOU dealt with???????
I have investigated many rapes and it is NOT a sexual crime as much as
it is a crime of violence and exhibits the rapists POWER over the VICTIM.
It would not bother me in the least if rape was a capital offense.
Rapist caught and sent to prison will all to often rape again when released
on parole or the sentence term is over.
Seen such myself too often.
Samo with a child molester. If released they DO molest again only might
be a bit smarter about covering the crime and not getting caught again.
How do "they" cover the crime?
By killing the child victim.
Cheesh; I recall a 67 year old woman working alone on the midnight shift at
a gas station who was raped by a drunken 21 year old man.
The "man" was sent to prison for a minimum 4 years to a max of 20.
Likely he did an actual 4. The female victim had a mental breakdown and
spent a long time in a mental facility and eventually died completely
insane in the care of relatives.
Rape is a most horrible personal crime for the victims and most all victims
require serious mental health help.
All victims of sex crimes where I worked were given personal help by female
volunteers, often the volunteers were themselves victims of rape and
did considerable time learning counseling techniques.

Not only do we give women tons and tons of preventive advice, on the flip side, what is so out of place about teaching not to rape? We teach about not using drugs, about finding aid and legal alternatives over theft, controlling violent impulses, not to drink and drive, not to purchase cigarettes and alcohol for minors, and the various laws of driving. But when it comes to rape, there is a total lack of education and emphasis on not raping. Rather, we have the opposite with ideas such as "boys will be boys," "the way she was dressed," "she should have been more careful," or "she is a whore."

I don't have any problem at all teaching kids NOT TO RAPE.
Underground? You mean like the rats that they are?

YES RATS. I think even RATS have a higher standard than a rapist.

It's not only a crime but immoral and if a person is at all religious
it's a very serious sin.

Deuteronomy 22:27
for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed, there was no one to rescue her.

Deuteronomy 22:29
he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

I think this is unfair to stupid immature dufous fratboys, prolly most of whom are benign.
These rape advocates are lower than the soles of lawyers' wingtip shoes.
