Mary, Jesus' mother

Is Mary in a place to hear a prayer?

"So, then, because we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also put off every weight and the sin that easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us..."

-- Hebrews 12:1

Technically, all the saints in Heaven, called the Church Triumphant, can hear and see what we do.

I've always been particular of images of the Assumption of Mary, even though it's somewhat extra-Biblical. There have been holy people in the Bible who have ascended into Heaven body and soul though, that's for sure.

And Matt Maher's song singing a rendition of Mary's praise in the Bible! :D

Hebrews 12:1 refers to a metaphorical cloud. It refers to the witnesses of the then Bible, available to be read by... Hebrews! And it does not include Mary as a faith exemplar.

As has been explained a billion times, including recently here.

That's your interpretation. The Bible contains hundreds and hundreds of interpretations of the same verses, and that's why you have myriads of Bible-based denominations in Christianity in the first place!

That's your interpretation.
And when you can prove it wrong, you can post as you do. :) Until then, your pictures make as much sense as a cartoon of Tom and Jerry. Though perhaps funnier.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
The medieval Church had to use imagery - the illiteracy rate was abysmal.

Ave Maris Stella Hail, Star of the sea! Blessed Mother of God, yet ever a virgin! O happy gate of heaven! Thou that didst receive the Ave from Gabriel's lips, confirm us in peace, and so let Eva be changed into an Ave of blessing for us. Loose the sinner's chains, bring light to the blind, drive from us our evils, and ask all good things for us. Show thyself a mother, and offer our prayers to him, who would be born of thee, when born for us. O incomparable Virgin, and meekest Or the meek, obtain us the forgiveness of our sins, and make us meek and chaste. Obtain us purity of life, and a safe pilgrimage; that we may be united with thee in the blissful vision of Jesus. Praise be to God the Father and to the Lord Jesus, and to the Holy Ghost: to the Three one self-same praise.

My favourite Marian prayer is the one that we say at the end of the rosary prayers:

mary45.jpg

HAIL, HOLY QUEEN, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

'She is the singular Refuge of the abandoned, the Hope of the miserable, and the Advocate of every sinner who turns to her. It is the great prerogative of Mary to be all-powerful with her Son.' As Paul, John and James foolishly forgot to mention. And Peter.

Well, I found the following scriptures to be interesting and reveiling:

Jesus said: "You should pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven.....'" (Matthew 6:9). He also said: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.....if you ask anything in my name, I will do it." (John 14:6, 14).

The apostle Paul wrote about Jesus: "It is not as if we had a high priest who was incapable of feeling our weaknesses with us....Let us be confident, then, in approaching the throne of grace, that we shall have mercy from Him and find grace when we are in need of help." (Hebrews 4:15, 16).

So from the above it is understood that we should pray to our Father (God), through Jesus' name (the only intercessor - "exept through me...") and be confident in approaching Him (God) that we shall have mercy.

You do not really prove anything. Maybe you mean we should only prayer the Our Father? That is the only conclusion I can get from your post without over reaching.
