McDonald's

What do you think of the food quality at McDonald's?

When I was very young, my dad used to bribe me and my best friend with McDonald's to go to church with him. At the time, it seemed like a fair deal; go to "Living Water Fellowship" in the evening, then hit the drive-thru and order a million $1 sandwiches. It didn't occur to me at the time what I might be doing to my physical and psychological health.

Apparently someone likes it. They have franchises all over the world and in the US you can hardly drive 5km without passing one.
I think they put a lot of research into getting the taste just right for the region they're servicing.

And to making customer loyalty by giving out 'happy meals', outside parks, toys, sugar/salt/fat to kids so they bug their parents until they get their fix.

I think McDonald's is largely operating on people's nostalgia. McDonald's wasn't always as bad as it is today, and people weren't concerned about their food as much in years past. Over time, I think the taste and imagery of McDonald's food has successfully imprinted itself into people's consciousness in a way that few other franchises have.

If McDonald's does not drastically change their food quality and operating practices, however, I think they may lose a very large customer base within a generation or less.

As far as the "burger places" McDonalds is definitely my favorite. We only have 3 around here, though, mainly (Wendys, McDonalds, and Burger King). I really like most of the food, and being in college, I love that there are a lot of cheap choices. Every place has a dollar menu, but along with their dollar menu they have the $1.50 snack wraps, $1 sweet tea, and 75 cent ice cream. Btw, since they've started upgrading, they definitely have the nicest eating space.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I can't even remember the last time I ate at McDonalds. I doubt I have eaten there more than five times in my entire life.

I gots standards, y'know? Damn, that **** is awful.

How do they stay in business? I know a lot of people eat there because it is a household name and all, but is that all that's keeping them going? Am I alone in thinking they are really the worst tasting fast food in the world? Heck, you are lucky if they can even get the condiments and the slice of cheese centered on the sandwich. Let's take it to a poll!
The only thing McDonald's has going for it, IMO, is there sweet tea.

Sad that I have to put "IMO" in there.

Try White Castle...

I'm all about Taco Bell's diet menu and Subway's great sandwiches myself.

Never really liked fake Mexican food.
Perhaps that is because I grew up with the real thing....

I really like Subway.
I just found out like two days ago that that funny looking leaf they put on my sandwich is spinach.

I used to eat there from time to time as a teenager until I got a bit of beak or something in a McNugget. Haven't eaten there since. The thought of it makes me ill.

They're quite clever with the marketing. We don't have TV, yet my daughters are always in the know, somehow, about the newest Happy Meal and Mighty Kids Meal toys.

I don't think that McDonald's is awful but it's certainly not my favorite. I do look forward to some of their menu items, especially their hot mocha coffees. I'd take theirs anyday over Starbucks.

McDonald's has lost the appeal that it had when I was younger but it's my daughters' favorite restaurant and on occasion, it makes for a cheap (as compared to dining venues of the non-express variety) family dinner.

I must be one of the last people on Earth who has never eaten a Big Mac. I did choke down a "Fish Wich" years ago, but have never understood why people think their insipid fries are awesome. I think I bought a coffee from them also, at one point, and it was pretty bad too. Honestly, I can't stand the smell of their products, let alone actually consider eating them.

Yep. Good for you!

Better put that on your bucket list, though.:D

It's both awesome and awful. Being the worst tasting food is an opinion not shared by all. It's without a doubt some unhealthy stuff. I was in the super market and saw a box of burgers and the fat and cholesterol count was off the charts. Even the leanest ground beef isn't that healthy for you. You have to understand that the food they serve is extremely cheap and it's fast and they cater it (seemingly) to the poor. They're not the only ones.

BK, Sonic and whole host of others are right in line with them. I personally think that if one is going to eat that stuff they should only eat it once in a week. During my weight loss initiative I eat very healthy during the week and take one day out of every week to reward myself. Now I don't always reward myself with fast food.

In my culinary opinion their
Cheese & Brocolli soup is a
"10" on a scale of "10".

Ahh but one does need to check the nutritional facts on such. Panera and Subway, even some supermarkets hot food bars carry a (broccoli cheddar soup) and it is full of sodium, cream and fake cheeses.

Check this out.

Yeah this stuff, if eaten too much, can really kill ya...
