Men and women. Friends or foes?

I guess American women would have had another reaction...right?
I scanned through the video. I had to leave the sound off because my husband is sleeping and I don't want to wake him up.

I didn't see anything alarming, nothing to react over, unless he was saying something lewd I couldn't hear... what's the problem?

The guy was really cool.

By the way, catcalling here is not generally seen as offensive or bothering by women.
As long as it's just a compliment or a greeting.

That's a really poor basis to grok reality.
I have family in Florida, you know...who came to visit.
they don't speak a word of Italian but they told me that Italian women are much more open and sexually available...than what they're used to.

Lol so?
I’ve seen muscular fit strapping young men get kicked in the nether region. Presumably for ticking off the girl he was flirting with
Real life is not some romance magazine or book.
Some people might be “ready to go.”
Depending on how err thirsty they may be. That’s not everyone though.

I think a lot of these things are more context oriented. I'm not sure what the younger crowd is doing these days, but when I was in my teens and college years, there was some pretty wild stuff that went on. This was just before people started learning about AIDS and HIV, so people were more inclined to throw caution the four winds a lot of times. Most people would try to avoid outright violence, although hotheads invariably get out of control. Every country has hotheads.

I've seen muscular fit strapping young men act mostly obnoxious, cocky, and tend to say rude and obnoxious things when they're under the influence - and sometimes there are consequences for that. I remember a guy who got stabbed because he asked another guy's girlfriend to dance. "Hell hath no fury..."

I can assure you, what most of us live in over here is nothing like the movies.
Movies create echo chambers the same way
that news can. Beware faux realities.
Living with some diversity in one's life can
open a window to the differences between
what's presented, & what one experiences.
Work. Run a business. Volunteer. Associate
with people from all walks of life. Travel.

Some women here don't care. Some get mad. We're not all the same.

I met my husband over the phone from across the country. He was visiting the guy I was talking to on the phone(that was a long term platonic friendship). My friend thought I was a jerk when I was single, and he saw opportunity. He asked my husband if he wanted to see who he was talking to, showed him a picture, and my husband, apparently, liked the photo too much, took the phone, hit on me in not very well put together ways.

To that, a portion of women would like his rude, somewhat suggestive comments. A portion would have been angry, and hung up on him. I saw comic opportunity, and cracked jokes at his expense for a good hour or two, making folks in the room on both my end of the line and his end of the line burst into laughter. (Apparently, he liked the abuse, and kept coming back for more.)

So, how women here respond is different.

I think they should make a movie about me, to show the world the REAL America.
I'd watch it.

They oughta make a movie about me, too. That way when people unfamiliar with the culture visit, they'll think a normal greeting is pulling fingers.

But...speaking of movies...
that confirms what I see in American movies.
Girls are too harsh on boys...

Something unthinkable here...
We are very kind...even if we are not interested in them. :)
Most of the times, we ignore them...because there's the saying: In love the winners are the elusive.

I think you're lumping all girls together again.

I am pretty harsh to unwanted attention. I lived with a roommate who could go to the store for a dozen eggs and a romp in the sack. She, obviously, wasn't harsh to attention.

There's always different reactions to different attention. I responded much differently to the man who asked to be flashed than the polite man at the bar who bought me a drink and started conversation.

I dare not imagine what to be flashed means.
I don't even want to know.

Actually men here are not that flirtatious. They just catcall to show their pals they are masculine, straight males.
They couldn't care less about hitting on a random girl in the street...seriously.

To most girls, it's flattering. It happened to me many times. On the train, on the subway, in a pub... It's no big deal.

'Flashing' is exposing parts of the body typically clothed. I hope you can see why random calls of "show me your [fill in the blanks]" is unappealing. And, in my experience, these inappropriate requests are very often what catcalling entails. Hell, I've even been on the highway and seen truckers hang signs with that statement out their windows... Catcalling is seldom "hey beautiful!" That would be fine.

I am noting that these American males are so filled with passion and creativity...
they should come to Europe to visit more often... lol

Wouldn't it make more sense for you to visit the US than to wait for American men to relocate to Italy?
