Men in the West are dressed in full; women are dressed half , quarter or less

I think there's enough -- more than enough -- pushing in this world, and that women should not need to worry about what the local prude thinks they should be wearing.

I'm not even sure there's a universal standard as to what constitutes which clothing is ''slutty'' and which is ''modest.'' It seems that many people try to push their versions of clothing that they see as most suitable for women to wear, but ultimately, I really think that some people spend too much time on issues that are none of their business at all.

Men in the West are dressed in full; woman are dressed half, quarter or less. What does it show?
I don't live in the West, but, for me , personally?

I think that men should be forced to be completely covered from head to toe, unless they play Rugby or Cricket. In those instances, they should be allowed to show their ancles and elbows, or, god forbid, even their knees. Men are bloody ugly (I'm one of them, too)

For women? I'm all in favour of all of them being forced to walk around completely naked, all the time! Well, until they reach the age of around sixty. Then they should be allowed to decide whether they want to wear clothes or not. :run:

Women are the the most beautiful creatures in this universe.

Paarsurrey, I really think that you're just a POE.

I don’t think it has anything to do with the progress of science.

Men in the West are dressed in full; women are dressed half , quarter or less

As I understand from the posts in the thread; it is not an issue related with science anyway; at least no-one has claimed it to be as such.

Men and women in the West both were used to be dressed in full to somewhat equal degree up-to the nineteenth century.

What factors lead to the present change? Is this change beneficial for the humanity?

What? Me worry?
I believe one reason a man dresses more completely is that-contrary to what my wife says- size does matter. Most men can appear muscular, trim, or well-endowed in a finely tailored suit. Skimpier clothing in a man could reveal things such as skinny arms, flatter behinds, or more "compact" nether areas. Me, I am looking forward to male burkhas.

Atheistically
It has nothing to do with science.
It's a cultural issue.

But men also dress with little. Have you been to a beach in the west? There are men in only tiny underwear.

Its not a ""issue"" in any way shape or form.

its also ignornace of the OP.

men are not dressed "full"

here in Ca its pretty equal depending on weather

Not of the men

i think it is a collective reflection of our society's taste...
we prefer to see more skin on women because women's bodies are more attractive... but i may be biased ;)
more women look at other women then men look at other men...at least from the conversations i have had...

You're right. It's been at least a decade since I bothered.

i understand....the oscars are overrated, however..lets take the average person working for a company...what is the acceptable attire...
usually it's men wearing slacks and a shirt....
women are usually showing their legs...at least

this is what is acceptable...even for those who have to wear a uniform...i used to work for a 5 star hotel in beverly hills and my uniform required for me to wear a skirt....no other exceptions...i remember griping because i had to also buy stockings out of my own pocket, which were also required, while my male counter part all had to do was wear the socks he already owned...
but i digress...
;)

You're not biased.
It's true!

Please read my post #63; in nineteenth century or in the Victorian period men and women were almost equally dressed in full in the West.
In the 21st century and in the second half of the previous century in many places neither men nor women dress in full.

I think it depends on where you are. Work should be different from your own time.

i am of the opinion that the environment of the woks place reflects what society deems as normal. change societies outlook on how women dress and the uniforms at the work place will change too.

it's interesting to note here that on the other thread about the freedom of going topless, women want to uncover when a man can do the same...however, in very cold conditions women still have to show their legs...while the men are wearing pants and thick socks
i don't get it.
