You want a good movie, Lava, but you haven't given us anything to work with except it can't involve zombies. What genres are you after? What movies do you think are great, so we can think of movies that might appeal to that sort of taste? Something to work with, please.

there are good movies of any kind IMO. i like action, horror, comedy, romance, sciencefiction...etc. at the moment i am watching the last house on the left (it's terrible btw). i am open to any advice. just make it one of your favorites.

Have you watched "Doctor Strangelove"? It's produced by the incomparable Stanley Kubrick, and is a black comedy about the Mutually Assured Destruction policy.

"Up". One of the better movies I've not regretted paying to take my kids to (compared to the terminal "Thomas the Tank Engine" with Alec Balwin).

Can't brain. Has dumb.
.lava - if you haven't seen it yet - The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I saw it on the flight from Sydney to NZ, and it made me cry :p

Film I saw this afternoon: Zombieland. Really quite a fun film to watch. Had a few good laughs.

Satanis: The Devil's Mass
DVD/ Color/ 70 Mins./ X/ 1970
In Satanis, The Devil's Mass, sacrilegious perversions appear to take place inside the hallowed halls of Anton LeVey's San Francisco mansion -- including bishop whippings, nude women at the altar and LeVey decked out in a pair of devil horns.

Fresh off an article about Anton LeVay in issue #19 of SCREEM magazine they made a reference to Satanis: the Devil's Mass and I realized I did have this film (it was paired with another celluloid oddity, Sinthia: The Devil's Doll). Curious about what goes on at an actual service for Satan, it was interesting to hear Anton LeVay explan the doctrines of the Church Of Satan and I was surprised by some of the similarities it shares with Patrickism.

Watched "Dawn of the Dead" by George A Romero. Some minor problems with this movie, but still quite good. Thanks for recommending this one to me, Nepenthe.

Done here.
I love that movie, but I haven't got John to watch it yet.

We watched Angels & Demons and Ink this weekend, and I watched Drowning Mona and C.R.A.Z.Y. while John was sleeping.

Angels & Demons is schlock with good production values and lots of action. Depends what you're looking for.

Ink was weird and intriguing; I might watch that one again.

I always heard Drowning Mona stunk, but I didn't think it was bad. Definitely not Bette Midler's best movie, but the only thing so far that's been shown to make a Bette Midler movie absolutely unwatchable is Woody Allen.

C.R.A.Z.Y. is about a gay guy of my generation growing up and dealing with his parents and four brothers in Quebec. The title comes from the names of the brothers: Christian, Raymond, Antoine, Zac, and Yvan. (Also, they keep playing Patsy Cline throughout the movie.) It's pretty good. I cringed at Zac's desperate attempts to live a straight life, but I remember living like that, too. The movie's in French, though, so I'll never get anybody I know to watch it with me.

Oh, and I started watching the third Ice Age movie, Rise of the Dinosaurs or whatever it's called, but I fell asleep about twenty minutes in.
