Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Girl in Gold Boots

The popular series serves up yet another futuristic classic. This one's a campy adventure starring Leslie McRae as Michele Casey, a dancer at the Go-Go Revue who's torn between two lovers: the driven but dastardly Buz Nichols (Tom Pace) and the warmhearted-but-too-innocent Finley "Critter" Jones (Jody Daniels). Meanwhile, Michele tries to steer clear of drugs and the dangers permeating that world.

Zatoichi: The Festival of Fire

Japanese cult hero Zatoichi (Shintaro Katsu), who's headlined dozens of films, is a fighter who wields a mighty sword, although he's unable to see because he's blind. In The Festival of Fire, this wandering warrior blows into a town in which women are treated without respect. But he soon teaches the men the value of respect, although it's a struggle to enlighten them.

I saw that recently. Awesome film; brutal, funny and surreal. I found the Zatoichi character quite scary. One minute he's humble & soft and the next he's coldly chopping people into bits. Most definitely a trickster hero too.

For me his only weakness as a satisfying character was that he didn't appear to have any weaknesses! His apparent blindness made him all the more invulnerable. I like my heroes to have flaws they must struggle with. I like anti-heroes especially

I finally got a chance to see 'The Prestige' this weekend. I enjoyed it immensely, and recommend it to anyone who likewise enjoys intellectual thrillers.

Seeking out the quintessential college experience by backpacking through Europe, two American students (Jay Hernandez and Derek Richardson) befriend an eccentric Icelander (Eythor Gudjonsson) and head to a hostel that's said to be brimming with women. But once they arrive, their desires are quelled by the discovery of unimaginable horrors. Quentin Tarantino presents this grisly tale based in part on actual events, directed by Eli Roth.


I eventually had to see this movie sometime. Always on the lookout for more disturbing horror films to fulfill my fears, this film disappointed on many levels. But just to show you I am not a movie snob, I did fish one little gem from this heap. It was a little musical remake entitled “How Do” by the Sneaker Pimps. This was a techno remake of the Willows enchanting soundtrack played to the Britt Eklund dance in the original The Wicker Man.

I just saw Happy Feet this weekend, best movie I've seen in years!! As animated movies goes this movies has got to be the best ever.

Refer Madness.
I laughed throughout that entire movie knowing the government intended that to be takin seriously, with it's fake claims of what marijuana does to people.
When the one guy started going through "withdrawels," shaking violently, and yelling
"I NEED REFERS!! REFERS!!!!!" I really started laughing hard.

Half Baked.
Seen it dozens of times, and I get a good laugh each and everytime.

I loved it. Especially Peter's attitude while he was wearing the black suit. I really loved his line "If you want forgiveness, get religion."

It was also nice to see Stan "The Man" Lee actually interacting with Peter Parker and being given the spoken dialogue of "Nuff said" to all the True Believers of Marvel Fandom.

Brick - A film noir complete with early 1900's slang transposed onto a modern day high school setting. Highly recommended.

Underworld: Evolution - A complete waste of time

A.I. - Steven Spielbergs masterful movie about a world where realistic robots ("Mecha") interact with humanity but are discriminated against. How do you define life? What does it take for a human to become attached to a robot? What is human? Highly recommended.

The French Connection - An Academy award winning detective story about a cop (Gene Hackman) attempting to shut down a drug smuggling ring. Recommended.

King Arthur - A more realistic version (apparently based on more recent archaeology) of King Arthur's tale concerning only how he became King and not his dealings with Mordred. Too much is reminiscent of Gladiator without reaching that plateau. The fight scenes good, but not great. The most interesting parts deal with the new archaeology concerning this legendary monarch. Decent.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - Beautiful cinematography combined with great acting (Paul Newman and Robert Redford) create a great Western with humor and action. Recommended.

Lord of War - a film about the life of an international arms dealer with Nicolas Cage playing the lead role. Truly excellent and thought provoking film. Really, this was great.

Human Traffic - a group of friends go out for a weekend in Cardiff, UK for the weekend. That's it, and its an immensely absorbing, funny and rather honest depiction of 90s club culture and the people who were there.

I saw hot fuzz recently. It is much like shawn of the dead (duh its made by the same people). The first time I saw it I was not laughing for the first 2/3's of the movie but the ending act slayed me. The same with Hot Fuzz. The buildup feels a little slow but the payoff is huge (massive over the top gun battle through idyllic english villiage). But the second a subsequent times I watch SotD I laughed through the whole thing. I suspect Hot Fuzz will be the same way. The first time you watch it you are so busy following the plot you miss alot of jokes and satire. But once you know the plot and can get it out of the way the wonderful jokes shine though. I highly reccomend the movie to anyone who enjoys Shaun of the Dead or over the top action movies ie Point Break, Bad Boys, Leathal Weapon, Die Hard

Toho brings out Godzilla and all the other monsters in this all star battle royale. I like to pull this one out every once awhie just for the fun of it.
