You know what the worst part of it all is?

Guess who's directing the remake...

WES FRICKEN CRAVEN!
The man is a *****. As in "rhymes with poor".
I swear Craven is the posterboy for selling out. What happened?!?!?

...I can't take much more of this C1... Please... please stop.

I'm sorry, but if I have to deal with it, so do you!

Dean just informed me of this about half hour ago, so you've got to suffer alongside me!

Why the hell would he remake his OWN fricken MOVIE?! I'm so annoyed.

OH! And the Cannibal Holocaust remake...... It's called Welcome to the Jungle.

Yeah, seriously.

The XYZ Murders a.k.a. Crimewave
DVD/ Color/ 83 Mins./ PG-13/ 1985
javascript:void(0)Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead) directs this unconventional comedy penned by Oscar-winning siblings Joel and Ethan Coen, a film told mostly in flashback that blends elements of cartoons and black-and-white crime dramas. The plot follows the exploits of two outlandish professional killers (Paul L. Smith and Brion James) who whack the owner of a security company and pin the crime on an innocent man (Reed Birney).

As close to a live-action cartoon that you will ever get to.

Eastern Promises- I'm a huge Cronenberg fanboy- he's probably my second favorite Canadian.
Viggo is amazing in it, the shower room fight is brutal, great screenplay, great movie. I'm on a Russian mafia kick lately so it was nice to watch this again.

And to ease the pain of horror film remakes: .....of the Dead.

The Party
DVD/ Color/ 99 Mins./ UR/ 1968
An Indian would-be actor named Hrundi (Peter Sellers) ruins an entire shooting day on an epic period film in which he's cast as an extra. A clerical error results in the accident-prone Hrundi being invited to a major Hollywood party thrown by a studio chief, rather than being fired from the movie. Sight gags, misunderstandings and accidental destruction soon follow. Sellers's frequent collaborator Blake Edwards writes and directs this film.

A Simple Plan
DVD/ Color/ 121 Mins./ R/ 1998
When two brothers (Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton) find a body and a bundle of cash in a downed plane, they plot to hide the loot and split it later. It's a simple plan … until things go murderously awry. Director Sam Raimi's adaptation of Scott B. Smith's best-selling novel contains masterful performances and a bone-chilling sense of mounting evil.

BEACH PARTY
DVD/ Color/ 99 Mins./ NR/ 1963
Throw on your Hawaiian shirt and light the tiki torches for this pair of "Beach" flicks starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. In Beach Party, the kids' summer vacation fun is threatened by a bungling biker (Harvey Lembeck) and an anthropologist (Bob Cummings) studying the teens' mating rituals.

I have a few of these beach movies trickling in from Netflix. This is a dead (but unusual genre). There was really nothing like it before and there will never be anything like it again.

I saw the Friday The 13th remake. It was eh.
I try to be a horror film elitist, and my taste is impeccable, but I do falter every now and then and watch remakes of classic horror films. I have avoided Friday the 13th though, so that's a good attempt I think. I was weak and saw the Dawn', Hills Have Eyes, and Halloween remakes. I hope another certain elitist here might not hate me for my weakness.....

Saw Elizabeth: The Golden Age last night. Beautiful costumes, stunning conceptual design, makeup, and cinematography. Vapid, dull and empty performances, beer commercial editing and all style over content. Amazing style, but little else. And Cate can usually do no wrong.

Awesome movie! I'm glad someone else has seen it!

I remember suggesting it in one of the GBLT rights threads a while back. :D
