to me music and dance seem to be an universal religion. they originate from nature [singing of birds, movement of waves etc]. and nature is from God. here in India, many brilliant exponents of classical music and dance are/were Muslims. proves "God is where the heart is".

Music is one the greatest mysteries that Almighty created . It is the cure for a broken heart , a tonic for a spirit which is low and lost .

In Qur'an there is no prohibition of music at all . The general principle is , these are not should be up to lewdness , like a lots of songs we hear filthy and rubbish . The words of the songs should be polite , constructive, meaningful and clean .

Women dancing in Public is prohibited in the Qur'an , as that excites men and consequently turning to lewdness .
