No no, I'm not making those numbers up. I'm basing those numbers on several large polls recently done across the Muslim world. When you have large poll results like this you can reasonably do some math and reasonably extrapolate to get to numbers like 500 million. (In fact, if you look at the link below, you'll see that I'm being very conservative with my 500 million number.)

They have contributed to so many things that are strong part of Western society (coffee, for example, or universities, or many, many other things) that if the world was without Islam we may not have many of the things we take for granted today. After taking in many of your posts, I must ask, why have the local Muslims here not caused any problems? They few of them I have known don't even know how to make a bomb, let alone have the nerve to detonate one and cause damage, injury, and death. And as for their education, why are there are few Muslim faculty members who hold Ph.D.s at school?

Nobody doubts that in the Middle Ages, the Caliphate of Cordoba was the most progressive and culturally refined kingdom on Earth.
But it is very sad to find out that the women of those kingdom could wear sexy clothes. I read a document in which those clothes were described. They could even put on lots of make-up...so they did have intention to seduce men with their looks

One that is still functioning.
One that has been in continuous use.

I gave the most relevant classification for schools and dates. Anything else would be arbitrary and cherry picking.
