Levant "2. Climate Characteristic of the Levant is the large extent of dry Ecological Zones, both desert and sub-desert, with no - or sparse vegetation. Mountains are also extensive and most forests in the region are confined to mountains, in particular the wetter submontane zones. Steppe vegetation, dominated by grass and shrubs, cover the drier mountain zones."

Sweet Jeebus.

Well of course; new guy always buys the beer.

You got it.

And I could be wrong - but I get the feeling that you like chess and you're really talented at math. If you went to / or are going to college, your major is - if not a math - something related like accounting or engineering.

If I guess right you owe me two bottles of nicely aged scotch.

Have you ever been to Israel? You really are embarrassing yourself.

Nope, you're still wrong

Sorry, I have a technical degree, BFA, no whiskey for you. As for the desert comment, seriously, is your only point atm refuting me using a general term for what is classified, as I showed, as a desert or sub desert. Nothing but ad homs. Seriously? Kay, Im gonna go play a game now, and you two can fellate each other for a few hours over how wrong I am, without ever showing how. Ready, go.

So the 'theory' is:
  • one or more fringe Hebrew schismists sloppily, foolishly, and unnecessarilly fabicates Nazareth.
  • a group of fringe Hebrew schismists certainly weren't going to go tromping across the desert to simply go check if the place existed.
  • and, fortunately, none of the opponents of these fringe Hebrew schismists knew enough or cared enough to expose this sloppy, foolish, unnecessary fabrication.
I wonder what desert our newfound friend had in mind.

Interesting, how are these assumptions wrong? You assert they are, but offer no real information to the contrary, only scorn.
At least he's honest enough to acknowledge his 'theory' -- so long as he doesn't have to defend such nonsense.

Jay - it's really a reading problem rather than a source issue. The "sparse vegetation" defines "desert" rather than characterizes even a good portion of the Lavant.

From his source:

The tectonic processes which ed to the formation of the rift valley and the mountain ranges east and west of it, are the basic geomorphic features of the Levant province, whereas for the Anatolian province, which borders the Levant in the north, the decisive factor was the alpine folding and for the desert belt bordering it in the south and east, the post-Miocenic desertification was the decisive event
