Noahs Ark

Actually Bware misquoted the passage as well as misapplied it. And while I am playing around I am being honest.

He paraphrased the quote by saying...("And the other passage says that god told moses to come out and bring all the animals out so they can repopulate the earth.")

Which you responded...("No, God told Noah to come out.")

But we find that not only does your god tell Noah to come out but he tells Noah to bring the animals out to go forth and multiply (repopulate the earth).

Genesis 8:17
Bring forth with thee every living thing that [is] with thee, of all flesh, [both] of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

So where was the "misquote"...?

I believe that at the time I entered the discussion that passage was not percieved.

Because it made no sense.....that's why.

Not space. Heaven.

Fine...not space...but "sky".....Your bible does not reveal the heaven talked about in Genesis as some mysterious invisible place. So basically your bible says water below the sky and water above the sky. So is what you're telling us is that the sky opened up and more water fell down to earth than what was already here to completely cover it? Can you elaborate as to how this is possible?

The bible only says that the windows of heaven were opened.

Translation: It rained more water down to the earth from the sky than what was already on the planet.

I think that people say it is something about the firmament. Like a layer of water above the atmosphere...I dunnu. I hate debating the flood. It is basically atheists mocking the Christians

When someone makes statements about impossible events defining them to be true then they deserve mocking, don't you think? Does a thing like the "firmament" sound realistic to you? Do you know enough about science to see how foolish such a claim is?

A miracle, perhaps?

We're not mocking...Ok...not all of us, but some here are trying to get an understanding as to why one believes what they do. If they don't understand what a "Firmament" is or if that thing actually exist then why are they posting as if they do.

Because it is NOT necessary to understand what it is. Not even desirable really.

Just believe. Nothing else matters nor SHOULD matter. God does things we cannot understand and SHOULD not understand. After all if we could understand what he does it wouldn't be godly, just human.

See how easy that was?:angel2:

Not mocking, pointing out the flaws of a literal interpretation of the OT.
I have nothing against (most) Christians, but I do have a problem with ignorance of reality.

Replace atheists with scientifically educated. Atheists in this sense is an unfair generalization.

You are misunderstanding your two points. It would seem that eating of the tree must need to happen more than once in order to live forever (assuming that at some point previous Adam and Eve had partaken of the fruit.). Also, logically Adam was not immortal since he died. Tthe reference to 120 years was until the time of the flood and not the age of individual men.
Okay where in the Bible does it say that eating of the tree of life would need to happen more than once to grant immortality?

And I know the 120 year thing was later on, my point was that the 1000 year rule that URA implied wasn't valid. (yet that rule doesn't seem to apply becuase throughout the old testament people live waaay longer than 120, but you know goddidit)

He may have been reffering to my typo in saying moses rather than Noah, he knew what I meant but wanted to have a comback so he picked it apart:ignore:

I'm not Athiest and I don't try to "mock" anyone. I just debate to get an understanding of how people can believe things so far out from reality. With what we know about the world in the modern day, it's strange to me that people would reject hard facts to believe wholly in events that you would see on saturday morning cartoons. But people believe some of this stuff literally, it makes no sense to me.:faint:

Can anyone explain how a dove small ground bird with a wingspan of less then 18" could fly over the flood covered earth?

And why a dove? Noah had a pair of albatross, condors, buzzards. And he sends out a dove?

Symbolism, with no basis in reality.

(But you already knew that:D)

Because it didn't happen. The bible writers "assumed" that with a flood it's like filling up a jar. Surely there was an incredible amount of debris in the water....? Even if the bird went out and came back with a twig or leaf then doesn't mean there was dry land...Could mean the bird picked up floating debris. So many wholes in that story....

Not Christians, Young Earth Creationists, and not atheists, people who accept science. How can the latter resist mocking the former, when they're so ridiculous?
