Obama's Speech to School Kids

Okay, I confess. I've been a bit extreme on this topic.
But I'm not relenting altogether.

The only relief I can accept is Dallas may be correct...hopefully so...that the children won't care.

Political agendas belong on capitol hill...not the classroom.

I dont like the whole idea(it scares me) that many are so "sheep" like that the parents calling this speech:

parents complained that it was foisting a political agenda on children, a sentiment echoed by Republican critics.

And thousands just believed it without ever KNOWING the content of the speech itself!

The white house has stressed that its a STAY in school message!

IF they are lying abuot that I'll be ****** off.But its being stated as fact the message is a political message based on Obama's agenda to indocrinate children and that is COMPLETELY made up!

Fair enough, although in that situation, I would probably stop trusting that professional.

No I trusted him because he was being honest.I am not qualified to teach.I dont have the educational backgorund nor the temperment.

It would be arrogant and quite frankly irresponsible of me to take on the attitude anyone can qualify as a teacher of academics just because they have a child.

No, because i'm a kid!:D

Yeah that would work..Kids listen to other kids it would be so easy for you to brainswash them into believing whatever agenda Obama wanted to push!

Thats a great idea Im calling the White House righ now to nominate you to represent the face of the "kids" !

Haha, Nah, I will not be brain washed by such ideas. Unless Obama and the other kids will take my brain off my head.:angel2: Nominate me? Nominate the puppy instead.

Hypocrite much?

I think thats not even at issue here.I have yet to see where this speech has any political agenda..anymore than the president adressing the children to say no to drugs.

Many assumptions have been made and and stated as fact then very strong critisism over these assumptions followed by a mob like frenzy over peoples objection to what seems to be pulled out of absolute thin air regardign the contents of the speech.

I find it fascinating to watch people go into an absolute fear inspired frenzy over something that someone completely made up.

Here is what its like..

Its like if I said Oh its carreer day? Well I'll go and talk about what its like to be a stay at home mom..

And an angry MOB started up about how I was trying to push my agenda to buy a gas guzzling SUV to drive my kids around in and push conservative anti-feminine views and indoctrinate all the children into being anti-coice and convince the girls to be door-mats dominated by their husbands later on for the boys to opress their wives and rule over them .

Also I saw one quote where it was stated this speach was at a "minimum disruptive".

OMG..I wonder if these same people would start a lynch mob over school authorities allowing 'pep rally's" ..Or dragging all the students to the gym to vote by show of applause who gets to be cheerleaders for the football team?Or over students being harrased during the school day over who to vote for class president?

I guess "school politics" are non-disruptive but a message from the leader of our entire nation promoting to STAY in that very school might cause a disruption that is unnacceptable.

May I restate....
It's more a matter of tactics than anything else.
If the Pres wants to make a speech he can do it on prime time tv.
He can stand behind his podium and promote whatever.

If we let the Pres use school time for speeches...everyone with an agenda
will jump on the band wagon.
Everyone...the gov...the rep...the lobbyist...the school principal...that's right...him too.

They already do that.

Do you know how much pressure is put on the kids to run "drives" to make money to pay for certain things in the schools?

I PERSONALLY have sold "lollipops" for my sons orhcestra class!

This is in the schools ALL year long. They actually give a prize to the kids who sell the most wrapping paper!!!!

They also "pressure" kids and parents to come to school events that have NOTHING to do with reading writing and arithmetics to raise MONEY for their "agendas".

Its called the 'PTA".

What about "funny hat day"? Or "wear your shirt inside out day"?SOME of the 'agenda' is to keep kids excited about school and to make it fun.

If Obama is wrong and its so innapropriate then ALL of it is.

Too much assumption and lollipops don't count.
I participated in fund raisers when I was young.
No politics.

It's the practice we are discussing here.
The presidents podium belongs on capitol hill.
