The land was named after him. Like most lands are named after people. His being a prophet means little, when his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and so on, wish to identify themselves with a man that they consider the father of their tribe.
It's like calling someone Carpenter. While they, themselves, may not be a carpenter, one of their ancestors was. OR the name King. They may not be a king but their ancestor was.

I understand. But its been how many pages on just this topic? Toss it up to pride or ignorance. Its a shame when one doesn't even know the one book he overly zealously claims to follow.
As I joined this forum in order to discuss religion related issues, I am going to fight to have the correct information posted.

And the most amazing thing is that the Islamic scripture openly use the term Children of Israel. Israelite kings are celebrated in Islamic tradition. OBVIOUSLY Islamic tradition recognizes a people and a nation of Israel, and also recognizes a historical Kingdom of Israel and its kings!
I would think that a Muslim person would acknowledge their own tradition!!!

I see the backtracking starts. this is a good first step, when you start to admit that the Qur'an talks about the people of Israel. see? this wasn't so hard.
hhhhhhhhhhh , did i said , Quran did not talk about people of Isreal ?
I am already post verses of Quran talking about the people of israel .

So what is it that you are protesting really? the Jews have been called the Children of Israel, a historical kingdom of Israel existed, the people of Israel of Biblical tradition are the confederation of the twelve tribes of Israel, why would they not in modern times call their nation Israel, when it is so rooted after centuries of Jewish tradition?

Childern of Israel , mentioned 40 times in Quran , you are so luck
Its all just lessons for us ,about how GOD TREAT YOU AND YOU TREAT HIM .
He sent many messangers and Prophets to you , but some times try to kill them and some times disobey them , and all the time edit His Books .
that why he warning/promiss you in the Torah that He will provoke you by foolish nation (we the arabs )

Godobeyer, would you kindly say why it matters if Israel is named after a prophet or not?
Another question, how should Jews call themselves today? leaving aside for a minute the fact that the name Israel has been central in Jewish tradition, Jews have been called Jews for more than 2000 years of history, should Jews stop calling themselves Jews because it originates in the name of a person? Judah?
Should Americans 2000 years from now stop calling themselves Americans because we believe that the Americas are named after Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci?

Of course it would be foolish for muslims and christians to do so. Muslims are not children of mohammed, nor are they all a single tribe descended from Mohammed. Same for christians.

like trying and say apples and oranges are the same:rolleyes:

Maybe they thought of it as a way to honor Israel the prophet . I dont know. But Israel is not the weirdest name I have read. If you really want something odd, look at Uruguay. Or... "You are gay" :p.

ok you confirme that verse :D
we foolish prefered by God:p , that mean the jews were worst than foolish people (arabs) ? which the verse of Torah said ,?

If this is true, its some weird childish thing. Like a boyfriend who gets mad at his girlfriend so he makes her jealous by filtering with another girl.

So, are you saying Allah is of the same mindset as a teenage boy?

The Qur'an already validated the use of the name Israel as a people and a nation. the term Children of Israel has been used for centuries by Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
Your holy book has used the term Children of Israel. was the Qur'an wrong to refer to the Jews as the Children of Israel?

You may tell yourself that you are preferred by God everyday if you want to. it doesn't change the fact that your countries are in some of the poorest state on earth, while Israel prospers.
but at least, you think that the Jews are cursed and that God preferred you. if that is a comfort.
