Come on, now. If anyone other than Jesus said those things, conservatives would dismiss them as being "woke" and/or "socialist".Sorry, I don't see how they would be in contradiction with conservative standards.

Jesus put the welfare of people well ahead of money, such as when he said: "Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's...". Conservatives that are like Trump "worship" money, and they refuse to follow Jesus' Parable of the Sheep & Goats and much of what's in the Sermon On the Mount.Sorry, I don't see how they would be in contradiction with conservative standards.
Ngl, this has been popping up on my (admittedly filthy leftist) feeds all week lol
Not surprising considering that the teachings and examples of Christ are antithetical to conservative ideology. If he were to return today, the right would reject him for being "woke" and "socialist".
Well it is easier to get a camel through the eye of the needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven. Right?Jesus put the welfare of people well ahead of money, such as when he said: "Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's...". Conservatives that are like Trump "worship" money, and they refuse to follow Jesus' Parable of the Sheep & Goats and much of what's in the Sermon On the Mount.
They certainly contradict MAGA standards, and everything that movement is about.Sorry, I don't see how they would be in contradiction with conservative standards.
And as the article in the OP shows many are now calling Jesus "weak" or "woke".Come on, now. If anyone other than Jesus said those things, conservatives would dismiss them as being "woke" and/or "socialist".
Jesus is too woke nowAnd as the article in the OP shows many are now calling Jesus "weak" or "woke".
"They wave the American flag while ****ting on everything it stands for. They loudly profess their faith while ****ting on everything Christ stood for. Of course they're lousy examples of the things they identify as.
Forgive me. But I thought flag burning was proudly protected under your First Amendment?"They wave the American flag while****ting on everything it stands for"
Reminds me of flag burners
I'm sure it is. Its one of the many things that fall under the first that people don't agree on.Forgive me. But I thought flag burning was proudly protected under your First Amendment?
That’s the usual response I’ve gotten from Americans over the years.
Sorry not American so I might be missing something
So, again forgive me as I’m not American so could be missing something. Is the term “flag burners” used in a derogatory manner?I'm sure it is. Its one of the many things that fall under the first that people don't agree with.
If you think flag burners is an derogatory manner, then you would have a ball with homophobe, transphobe, bigot, etc etc. Right? So, again forgive me as I’m not American so could be missing something. Is the term “flag burners” used in a derogatory manner?
I would have assumed that it was neutral at worst, since they are presumably bravely expressing their first amendment rights?
Sorry I may have misunderstood you. Possibly?
I thought your post was deriding said flag burners with your comment. If you think flag burners is an derogatory manner, then you would have a ball with homophobe, transphobe, bigot, etc etc. Right?
I don't care for flag burners. I don't care for bigots. Both are terms to describe people same as homophobe, transphobe, etc.I thought your post was deriding said flag burners with your comment.
That’s where I think the miscommunication arose.
I apologise if I was mistaken
Like I said, I’m not American and I don’t know what is considered derogatory or not.
Here the C word is used as both a badge of honour said among close friends and an unspeakable insult, depending on the context. So language may be slightly elusive for me at times lol
No, I do not think that you are the one that is confused. Some people do not understand how flag burning can be a brave and even patriotic event. So, again forgive me as I’m not American so could be missing something. Is the term “flag burners” used in a derogatory manner?

Bob calls Steve a flag burnerI thought your post was deriding said flag burners with your comment.

Why not?
Burning the flag could be seen a noble patrotic act in certain circumstances. A move that is done out of a highly symbolic protest. Like those anti war protests from back in the day, right?
I thought that’s what Americans highly valued? Free speech
Going against government control by making a very bold statement
I mean, isn’t it?
It could also just be a thing done out of convenience I suppose lol
Well the last three I can understand why the underlying context would be one of derision. Or rather the message conveyed. That of someone with hate and something negativeBob calls Steve a flag burner
Kenny calls Bill a homophobe
Mary calls Charlie a transphobe
Karen calls Joe a bigot
Are all used in a derogatory manner?
I wore that flag on my right sleeve for 21 years.Well the last three I can understand why the underlying context would be one of derision. Or rather the message conveyed. That of someone with hate and something negative
Flag burning?
Again maybe that’s just an American thing but I could care less if someone burns their national flag.
It’s just a flag. And indeed flag burning has long been associated with symbolic protests of one’s government. It is a known protest move in multiple countries, usually done in disgust of awful acts committed by said government. So I don’t really put it in the same category, truth be told
Maybe it’s more of an American thing?
