Oh. That's nothing. It just sits on the shelf and collects dust. Or stand on display for others to see.Yet the same people who fire the pastor keep the bible. Looks like a double standard.

What? Man, I think you need some lessons, from a man who had more wives than Mohammed Bello Abubakar.Eh, my wife threatens me sometimes, but I just ignore her ignorance and carry on. Sometimes I give her an earful, like last night when I told her she's my property since I bought her for 25 dollars from the courthouse the day we got married. Yeah, she got mad and stormed out of the house. She even hit me with an umbrella on the way out.
...But I'm not mad.
Christians are hardly "under attack". Some Christians are being limited on their ability to spread hate. How would that be being under attack? As a Christian you should be outraged against this pastor as well. Abusing the Bible to use it as an excuse to hate others is the exact opposite of what Jesus taught.I believe the Bible predicted that there would be dark times just before the end of the world and Christians would be under attack.
What if he put up a sign saying he opposes adultery or divorce?
Both are condemned quite literally in the New Testament, so too
is homosexuality - quite explicitly.
What is happening now is that THE CHURCHES ARE LED BY
SOCIETY INSTEAD OF LEADING IT.

While what the pastor said is true (gay sex is a sin), what he said does not need to be said on a public sign for non-churchmembers to see.
...Everyone knows already.
I am sure he could find a job with a PCA church and be well shed of that apostate church.
The bible in the hands of a moron is like a gun in the hand of the mentally ill.
...one of those many evangelical Christian churches, full of Trump supporters...
IMO, any church that has enough money to own a building or hire a full-time pastor has already gone far astray from the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels. My problem with what people write against the churches is that
for the most part they are right. But I don't recognize the churches
as being Christian.
Christianity is what you read in the New Testament. When you
read of "Christians" marching upon Jerusalem or setting up the
Inquisition for instance, that is not Christianity but Catholicism.
Same as Jim Jones and his Coolaid. Don't judge Christianity
by those who deliberately breach its principles.

... but this doesn't make any of them not Christian.
So, you're one of those people who think Christianity is a tiny little cult?My problem with what people write against the churches is that
for the most part they are right. But I don't recognize the churches
as being Christian.
You mean, "What people have been reading for centuries", as opposed to what you read there?Christianity is what you read in the New Testament.
How can I tell who the real Christians are, when there's no objective standard? You don't think that people who interpret and prioritize the same things you do are Christians. I don't find you a particularly authoritative source.Don't judge Christianity
by those who deliberately breach its principles.
I believe that anybody who believes Jesus is superhuman is a Christian.
Tom
I agree with all of this.Lots believe Jesus is "superhuman" but a belief doesn't bring salvation.
There IS an objective standard to what a Christian is and that is any
person who seeks to reflect Christ and his standard in their life.
This is the essence of the Gospel. It was never about hell fire, judging
homosexuals, condemning the demon drink or whatever.
I agree with all of this.
But neither of us is authoritative enough to assert it, without any more support than our opinions.
Not if you expect to convince anybody of anything beyond your own self righteousness and egotistical illusions.
Tom
Yes.Wait, what... if I state that the objective standard of Christianity is the standard
of Christ this makes me, quote "self righteousness and egotistical" unquote.
currently the gay rights in the soviet union is near zero.Aren't gays migrating to Russia in droves today?
As I like to say to Marxists, show me a Marxist society that worked.
As for gay rights - ordinary people in those societies had NO RIGHTS.
All rights went to the Ruling Class.
Yes.
You have mentioned a few times who you think are Christians and who aren't.
I know a batch of Christians who don't agree with your interpretation of the stuff people claim that Jesus said.
Tom
currently the gay rights in the soviet union is near zero.
much of this is , of course , due to orthadox christian view which is still strong in russia
That would explain all the plagues, smiting, oppression & other disasters.
Without checking up on it I would suppose gay rights had no
part in Soviet Russia too. And, Christianity isn't that big in
Russia. What Russia DOES have is a conservative populace
who despise many of the value of the West.
I fully agree with you. You are Buddhist and Buddhism is founded upon non violence so how can we accept the violence against Rohingya by Buddhists? It’s hypocritical,to compromise the basic teachings of any religion and the Bible does not support homosexuality so then those who do support it should seriously consider whether they want to remain Christians or not.
